How to Achieve the Bold Glam Filter IRL

This new filter has been trending everywhere on TikTok, but there have been various mixed reviews about it. Many plastic surgeons have come forward and said this filter can be toxic to someone’s self image because it promotes unrealistic beauty standards. We here at The Edge would never want to encourage anyone to look a certain way to feel beautiful or change anything about themselves. No negativity here! This is all for fun and for whoever is interested in changing up their makeup look or is in the market for new products.

Let's start off strong, and what better way to do that than with brows! This filter gives eyebrows a more defined and fuller look. An easy way to achieve this is to prep first. Groom your brows, tweeze them and wax them. This step is 110 percent optional, but it will definitely help make your brows look cleaner. Next, fill in your brows with any kind of product you like. The tool we personally use is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. Then, seal it all together with a clear brow gel. A great and inexpensive option is the NYX Brow Glue. When looking for what shade to use, it’s always best to go one shade lighter than your natural brow color so your brows don’t stick out in an obnoxious, over-lined type of way.

Moving onto our favorite part: contour. Contour is HUGE in this filter, and here is our trick to help your contour look effortless! First, apply a liquid base to better hold your powder. An inexpensive option is the L.A Girl Pro Concealer or the NYX Contour Concealer; both have a large shade range and have been considered dupes for the Charlotte Tilbury Contour Wand. Apply your contour on the top of your cheekbones, corners of your forehead, jawline and chin. This next step is important when applying contour on your nose. Be sure to bring the product into the crease where your nose and eyebrow bone meet. Make sure to blend upwards and in circular motions. This will ensure an even blend. On top of your contour, add on a cream or liquid blush. Blush is the first product to fade from your face, so adding a cream or liquid base will help the color show better. The color from the filter is a peachy pink color. A great option is the color Nude Flush by Milani or Cheeky Coral, a liquid blush also by Milani.

The filter shows a very bright under eye and the best way to achieve this is to use a concealer one to two shades lighter than your foundation shade. If you’re in the market, some great concealers are Kosas, Elf Camo concealer or the Tarte Shape Tape. Apply the concealer in triangles under your eyes, chin and forehead, and a thin line under your contour. Blend everything out with either a beauty blender or a brush, and apply powder in the areas you want to highlight. The best tools to use for baking are powder puffs, which is good to leave on for about one to four minutes. After dusting that away, you can go ahead and apply your favorite blush and powder contour, as well as your powder blush and bronzer. The rest is preference; you can use your favorite mascara, and if you want to add on falsies for full glam you totally can! The best falsies that are going to help achieve this look are the KISS Wispy Wisps. For the lips, any kind of pink, nude color is going to look great and tie in the glam look altogether. As a finishing touch, add in your favorite highlighter on the inner corner of your eyes, tip of your nose and just a little on the side of your face!

We hope this can help if you’re trying to achieve this new trendy look! Remember that you don’t need to change yourself to feel beautiful. Makeup is an expressive tool for having fun and helping young people out there gain the confidence to be who they are, not what they think they should be!
