Spend a Day in Interlaken
Interlaken is known as the “adventure capital” of Switzerland. Whether you’re paragliding, skydiving, hang gliding or bungee jumping, you will find the type of adventure right for you while visiting. Aside from these thrilling activities, there are quaint shops, hikes, views and delicious places to eat at that you just can’t miss. Here is your guide to making the most of a day in Interlaken.
Start the day off by grabbing coffee, a pastry and/or some avocado toast at a charming cafe called Spatz - gastro & so. Located right on the bright blue Aare River, it has perfect outdoor seating with a gorgeous view. There's no better way to start your day than with a nice warm latte and chocolate croissant.
Next, browse the small souvenir shops and chocolatiers! Switzerland itself is known for its chocolate, particularly milk chocolate. Swiss chocolate, which is legally categorized as chocolate made in Switzerland, has more milk in it than most chocolate. This gives it the “melting on your tongue” experience that makes Swiss chocolate so exquisite. Interlaken has a Lindor store, with more Lindor chocolate flavors than you probably thought existed. It is also home to Läderach, a must try in our opinion. Läderach provides the true Swiss Chocolate experience with chocolate bark, truffles and more.
Another Swiss trademark is watches. Switzerland is the home of the Swatch, and many watch stores can be found in Interlaken featuring Swiss brands such as IWC, Zenith, Patek Philippe and Rolex. There’s no better place to get a Swiss watch than in Switzerland!
For lunch, stop in any local cafe or restaurant that you desire! Places to eat line the little streets of Interlaken, and it is very easy to find what you are looking for during a shopping break.
In the afternoon, step outside your comfort zone. Paraglide with Twin Paragliding over the beautiful town of Interlaken and Lakes Thun and Brienz. Or, skydive with Skydive Switzerland GmbH if you’re a thrill seeker. Paragliding, while still daunting, is a much more chill experience than skydiving, so that may be a better option if you're not the adrenaline junkie. But, you truly can’t go wrong! If neither of these activities are for you, hike or take the tram up to Harder Kulm, the top of Interlaken. You can experience a 360-degree view of Interlaken, the surrounding mountains and lakes!
