Our Favorite Met Gala 2023 Looks
The A-list celebrities lined the red carpet on Monday, May 1 for the 2023 Met Gala honoring the incredible legacy of the late designer Karl Lagerfeld. Karl Lagerfeld truly was instrumental in revitalizing the Chanel brand, helping it regain its position as one of the top fashion houses in the world. He brings outstanding universality and expertise to fashion that bridges the gap between art and commerce. The Met Gala is always a chance for designers to show off their most dramatic visions, but this year’s gala honored one designer that represents sophistication, wit and passion. We can’t wait anymore; here are our favorite looks from this year’s Met Gala!
Dua Lipa
Dua Lipa arrived early to this year's Met Gala in order to set the bar high! Lipa recreated the gown famously known to be worn by supermodel Claudia Schiffer at the 1995-1996 Chanel runway show. This dress is an original 1992 white tweed ball gown with a flattering basque waist, woven black trim and a fringe hem. Dua Lipa added some detailing by dripping herself in diamonds from Tiffany & Co. Her simplistic vision was outstanding and will remembered forever!
Anne Hathaway
Anne Hathaway channeled Karl Lagerfeld in her own way, but with the help of the incredible Donatella Versace. She is wearing a thrilling strapless safety pin dress by Versace with white tweed, pearl accents and camelia flower details. Anne Hathaway specifically stated that her dress was “meant to be a marriage between Versace and Channel.” She paired it with a matching jacket and a half-up, half-down hairstyle. Anne Hathaway completely blew all of us away with her effortless sophistication and beauty.
Anok Yai
Anok Yai's first debut at the Met Gala did not fail to amaze us. Anok Yai is an American supermodel of South Sudanese heritage. She is the second Black model after Naomi Campbell, and the first South Sudanese woman, to open a Prada show. Anok beautifully executed paying homage to Karl Lagerfeld and his work in Fendi, Chloe, Balmain and Patou. The supermodel stunned in a sculptural glittery piece featuring the most flattering and striking silhouette, flaring dramatically at her hips and flowing in streams of silver to her feet. Small detailing of a brown mesh eye mask, dainty Mindi Mond jewelry and sheer elbow-length opera gloves matching her tulle train with Jimmy Choo heels.
Kate and Lila Moss
Kate and Lila Moss had a mother-daughter moment in their coordinated pink Fendi looks. These looks are an exquisite representation of one of the several houses that Lagerfeld has designed over the course of his career. The designs referenced Lagerfeld's abiding love of pastels and his eye for a feminine flourish. Kate and Lila both wore blush pink tones, which was a popular shade for the event. Kate chose a slip dress trimmed in lace and topped with sheer pink sleeves that draped to the floor. Lila, meanwhile, took a different route by embracing texture with a pink faux fur dress, offset by a sheer panel in the center. They are a powerful duo that shines beauty and strength.
This year’s Met truly represented who Karl Lagerfeld was and the impact he still has on fashion today. The 2023 Met Gala sure will be hard to top!
