Here at The Edge, we understand the desirability of her stand-out style.
So, we've gathered the deets revealed by her colorist Laurie Heaps how to achieve this iconic style.
THE COLOR & CUT
There is no doubt that Sabrina is known for her iconic golden blonde hue. Her colorist, Laurie Heaps reveals to benindthechair.com how she achieves the perfect tone. Keeping highlights balanced she creates the natural looking color. Incorporating “brightness and definition” she adds some extra highlights on the layers around her face as well as her bangs. She doesn't use toners, but to achieve a warmer blonde that “enhances her natural depth” she will sometimes use Redken Shades EQ 09N & 09GB for around 5 minutes on the roots. For a brighter blonde she used Shades EQ 10WG & Clear on the midsection to the ends.
To get the “perfect contouring effect” of Sabrina's signature bangs Laurie emphasizes to not overblend the bangs with the sides of her long layers.
For her fringe, she does a standard triangle section, with the center part as the guide. Using a round brush she defines to achieve the “contouring bend”
She encourages to “start longer” while cutting bangs and to cut them dry. She describes cutting bangs as an “art” so it is important to have patience and be careful during the process.
THE STYLE
As she is a Global Ambassador for Redken she starts with the prep to the style with the Acidic Bonding Concentrate collection. This collection consists of a shampoo, conditioner, mask and leave-in treatment.
As another Redken Ambassador Laurie describes her routine to create Sabrina's bouncy bangs.
First, on damp hair, she uses the Acidic Bonding Concentrate Leave-In Treatment to add shine and heat protection.
Then the Root Lifter Volumizing Spray, prior to blow drying to add body to the hair.
Using Quick Blowout and a round brush she gives her a bouncy blowout, specifically focusing on lifting the bangs for more volume. To add waves she uses a 1-inch curling iron on the mid-to-end section.
She finishes the look with the Brushable Hairspray, to help set the look without any stiffness, while maintaining the hold.
Similar to Laurie's style routine, her stylist Scott King uses a similar routine to achieve her perfect Short n' Sweet tour styles.
