All In The Name of Love
As college kids, we’re constantly trying to figure it out. Whether it be who our friends are, where everyone is going for the night or even what we want to major in — there are a lot of questions circling in our heads. This time of questioning is completely normal, however, it can be very frustrating. No one likes uncertainty, especially when it seems like everyone around them has it figured out.
Well fortunately, we at The Edge know that no one has it figured out. Whether you're 16 or 42, this is everyone’s first time living, and we’re all constantly trying to do our best with the cards we are dealt. Everyone may have a “hack” for how to “live your best life” but in reality, everyone’s needs are different, so it’s going to look different for everyone.
Decision-making and moving forward can be daunting, especially if you’re double guessing whether or not you’re doing the right thing. A quote that often resonates with us is from Van Gogh: “What is done in love is done well” and that is how we should be double checking ourselves.
If something doesn’t feel right or there are aspects of your life you aren’t happy with, ask yourself if you truly love it. Is it something that continuously makes you better, sets your soul on fire and truly adds to your life? If it doesn’t, let it go. This can be as small as a top you’ve had trouble parting with or as big as whether or not you want to keep that friend around who’s turned on you. Leading in pure love is the best bet to set yourself up for success and to truly be satisfied with your life.
Of course, this is easier said than done. It’s hard taking the extra step to be brutally honest with the way you’re living. And when you do that, sometimes the truth is scary. Starting off small with nasty habits you’ve been trying to get rid of, like finally organizing your room, can set a solid foundation with implementing this practice.
As you slowly get more comfortable, that’s when you can ask yourself the big question to bigger concepts. Now, this doesn’t mean completely change your life, but instead, make it into something you are truly proud of. Everyone deserves to be proud of everything they have done, but they need to love it more at the end of the day.
So continue to question and be unsure — that’s life after all — but do it in love.
