Glow From the Inside Out
With everything most college students have going on, a lack of physical activity and proper self-care can take an extreme toll on us mentally and physically. One way to revitalize your routine to feel and look better is through practicing yoga. We here at The Edge believe that the holistic practice of yoga has visible effects on your skin, hair and overall beauty. It is so easy to incorporate yoga into your daily routine without allowing it to become a stressful part of your everyday routine! Plus, yoga can be done at home if you don’t have access to a studio!
One thing that yoga does is improve your blood circulation through the movement and positioning of different poses. Enhanced circulation can improve your skin as your skin cells are nourished and glow as a result.
Positions like downward dog or any other downward-facing position that forces blood to flow in the opposite direction will encourage your skin to have a better, more natural glow with regular practice! These inverted poses are not just helping your skin, they can even help improve the quality and look of your hair for the same reason! Increased circulation to the scalp can encourage hair to grow longer and stronger over time.
Yoga also utilizes breathing exercises and meditation to lower stress levels, which can cause a decrease in acne and a lack of skin breakouts. In calming the mind, the face will calm, too! A decrease in stress levels will cause you to feel rejuvenated, sleep better, and improve your mood- which all show up in your physical appearance!
But yoga is not all about stress relief and breathing exercises- it can be a super intense workout to shape your body! You do not need to work out at the gym with heavy weights or cardio to feel an improvement in your physical appearance. Depending on which position you are flowing through, yoga can engage your muscles and strengthen your core, too.
Positions like plank and tree force core engagement, as well as balance and posture improvement. Heaving such intense control over your body to maintain balance in these positions counts as a workout as much as any workout in the gym!
Yoga is not about perfection- it is about listening to your body and feeling what feels comfortable. Even if you are new to yoga, there are so many positive results of trying it, even if it’s just one time! Your body will thank you for giving it a try!
