Breaking Out Our Inner Interior Decorator: A look inside some of Elon's cutest bedrooms
Listen, it is no secret that the second we all were accepted into Elon, we immediately went to the “Home” section of Urban Outfitters and Pottery Barn Teen to start crafting the dorm room of our dreams. Every girl wants to have the perfect dorm that mixes school and play, making your home away from home feel like your own private oasis.
At the beginning of every year, it’s always so exciting to visit friends who live both on and off campus to see how their inner Joanna Gaines and Bobby Berk manifested. A room can really be a look into the inner workings of someone’s mind—the things that make them feel comforted and safe.
Sadie, Ellie, and Fiona were all gracious enough to give us an inside look at their dope bedrooms, from an off-campus house to the classic Carolina dorm room. Who knows, maybe you’ll even get inspired for next year!
Sadie’s Room
The white furniture that matches the curtains and bedspread scream simplicity, while warm colors tie the room together for a cozy feel. Sadie’s room has bits and pieces of her life throughout: Tri Sigma letters hanging above the wall, a name plate sitting on a shelf, a map from the Peruvian town where she studied abroad, pictures from her gap year… It’s truly her personality in a bedroom.
Ellie’s Room
Ellie’s room is not your typical. The 70s-but-make-it-cool wood-paneled walls, multicolored boho tones, and “not your grandma’s” shag carpet make this room look like the way Bath & Body Works’ Mahogany Teakwood candle smells.
Fiona’s Room:
Fiona lives in Danieley now as a sophomore, but her first-year Carolina dorm room is timeless. The vibes of the room encapsulated everything that made being a first-year so amazing—excitement. She said her inspiration came from a “mix between VSCO and Pinterest” and that she’s “obsessed with the neon pop art vibe,” which is incredibly apparent through her room! The bright colors and badass quotes turned the cinder block walls into a rainbow of inspiration and a pretty dope background for Insta pics. Fiona says it best: “My favorite part of the room was the bright colors and vibrant atmosphere because it became a place where everyone wanted to hangout... Once my room was decorated it brought all my friends together.”
These three different rooms serve as a perfect example of how styling your room can really show the true beauty of your individuality. If you have a room or apartment you are proud of, snap a pic and tag us at @theedgemag.
