#NoStressNovember: Fun November Holidays to Spice Up Your Month
I once read that you should always have a bottle of champagne in your fridge. We all need something to get excited about even if all we have to celebrate is that same bottle of champagne in the fridge. To help with the winter-is-coming-and-I-can’t-cope feelings, there’s a way to celebrate every day for the month of November. Find our top six days of the month and the best ways to celebrate them.
November 4 - National Stress Awareness Day
Finals are looming. Days are becoming shorter. Studying is sounding less and less appealing. Take November 4th to treat yo’ self. Here is a recipe for a sweet stress ball.
November 8 - National Cappuccino Day
Here are the best places on and near campus to celebrate today accordingly.
- Irazu (Elon)
- Oak House (Elon)
- The Blend & Co. (Burlington)
- Starbucks (Burlington)
- Press Coffee + Crepes (Graham)
November 13 - World Kindness Day
The next Random Act of Kindness Week is in February, but you can start preparing on November 13th! Randomactsofkindness.org is a great resource for ideas and inspiration, but here are some simple and easy acts to try.
- Pay for coffee for the person in line behind you
- Hold the door for your class as you’re leaving
- Smile at people you pass on campus
- Thank your RA or apartment manager
- Call your parents
November 17 - National Take a Hike Day
Not in the passive-aggressive way, but in the get-outside-for-once sense. Spend today getting some exercise and clearing your head. If you’re still at Elon, spend Take a Hike day at one of these parks:
- Hanging Rock
- Haw River
- Occoneechee Mountain State Natural Area
- Eno River State Park
November 26 - Small Business Saturday
Post-Black Friday, spend some time in your hometown shopping small mom-and-pop businesses - they need and appreciate your holiday business more than national corporations do. Plus, it’s a start to working off Thursday’s dinner - shopping requires a surprising amount of walking!
November 28 - National French Toast Day
There’s only one thing to do - EAT. Here are the best Pinterest recipes for today’s festivities.
