OC + LA Travel Guide

This past spring break, I brought my friend Sophie home with me to Newport Beach, California, just an hour away from Los Angeles.  I was supposed to be the tour guide, but I ended up being a tourist right alongside her!  Below are some of the best hotspots in Orange County and Los Angeles.

Disneyland

Located about seventy minute drive from Los Angeles, Disneyland is an absolute must! No matter how old you are, Disneyland always feels like a magical place – some might even say it’s the happiest place on earth. Some must-dos are Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, and, of course, taking a picture in front of the castle! Ariel’s Grotto in California Adventure is a fun spot to eat. (Fun fact: I met Adam Sandler there once!)

Tavern LA

Tavern is my favorite brunch spot in LA. Located in Brentwood, its menu ranges from avocado toast with prosciutto, eggs and tomatoes, to sweet potato pancakes, to delicious burgers and salads, not to mention amazing coffee and drinks.

Cool Walls

We’ve all seen them on Instagram, but they’re even trendier in person. A few of my favorites are the Paul Smith and Made in LA walls located on Melrose Avenue.

The Beach

You pretty much can’t go wrong with finding a beach spot in Southern California. Although my personal favorite is Newport Beach (are we surprised?!), Manhattan Beach and Venice are two great spots closer to LA. Depending on traffic, ubering or riding your bike is the best way to get to the beach. Beach parking can be rough, no matter where you go.

Urth Café

Like earth, but better. Yet another fan favorite by just about everyone who’s ever been to LA. Whether you’re craving a sandwich, waffles, a salad, or a boba drink, Urth really does have it all.

Shopping on 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica

Basically every store you could ever imagine, located outside, with an ocean view.

Staples Center

The Staples Center is a fun way to have a night out, whether it’s to see a basketball game or concert.
