Ole Henricksen Product Review
As a skincare enthusiast, I’m always on the lookout for new and upcoming products. Within the past year, I noticed that my Sephora sample boxes were filled with Ole Henriksen products. While Ole Henriksen (pronounced “ooh-lah”) isn’t necessarily new to the skincare scene (they’ve been around since the 70s), the company recently rebranded and redesigned their line. I picked out three popular products that I’ve tried and tested to give you honest reviews of each!
Nurture Me Moisturizing Crème
I was initially a little nervous to try this moisturizer. I have sensitive skin, and had tried their Sheer Transformation moisturizer before, which broke me out. However, the Nurture Me Moisturizing Crème is said to comfort even the most sensitive of skin. It is described as a product that “intensely hydrates, soothes, reduces visible redness, and softens.” Along with my sensitive skin, I also experience redness, so this sounded like the perfect moisturizer for me. I fell in love with this product immediately. I prefer my moisturizers to have a thicker consistency, as thinner formulas remind me of lathering sunscreen all over my face. This moisturizer did not disappoint. It had the thicker formula that I love, and even smelled amazing. The fragrance wasn’t overpowering, or irritating like some tend to be. Rather, the citrusy smell was subtle and calming. As far as the moisturizer’s actual effect on my skin…another win for Ole Henriksen. I apply moisturizer morning and night (as you should!), and this product works great for both times. I use it before I put my makeup on each morning, and not only does it work as a great base, but it provides the hydration I need for the day without leaving my face feeling greasy. It leaves my skin feeling soft, and has even minimized my breakouts. I’ve even noticed that my redness isn’t as much of an issue! The only downside to the moisturizing crème is that it does not have added SPF, which is always great for a morning moisturizer. Find it here!
Truth Serum
Even if you’re using moisturizer daily, consider adding serum into your skincare routine. Serum is geared more specifically towards anti-aging. You’re probably wondering, “Why should I be worried about aging? I’m a beautiful baby-faced college kid!” To this I say: It’s never too early to start! Prevention is key. Some serums are stronger than others, so this is why I love and recommend Ole Henriksen’s Truth Serum. It’s packed with both Vitamin C, which boosts collagen production, evens out, and brightens skin. It doesn’t contain too many strong ingredients that are often used in serums targeted towards older users. The fragrance of this product is amazing; the fresh orange scent is incredibly refreshing. I only apply this at night, and use it before my moisturizer. I find that when I apply it in the morning before makeup, it creates a slick base, which isn’t ideal when paired with a full face of makeup. All it takes is one pump of this product to give me a fresh, glowy, and smooth face. I know using this serum will pay off one day when I’m wrinkle-free! Find it here.
Banana Bright Eye Crème
If you think about it, your eyes go through some serious stuff. In fact, your eyes are typically the first spot on your face to show signs of aging, which makes sense when you think about your routine of applying makeup and scrubbing it all off with a harsh wipe at the end of every day. Eye crème is similar to moisturizer, but it’s made with a gentler formula designed specifically for the sensitive skin around your eyes. Because of my fair skin, I have pretty noticeable dark circles under my eyes. Even if you don’t have dark circles, it’s great for preventing fine lines and brightening the skin around those tired eyes us college kids are all so used to. I apply this both morning and night, and seriously love the results. The skin under my eyes is noticeably smoother after use. I use it before putting on my makeup, and it creates a great base for my concealer, which I’ve noticed doesn’t crease anymore thanks to the eye crème! My dark circles didn’t magically go away, but I did notice that they appeared brighter after applying my concealer the next day. This product is the least fragrant of the three I use, with a fairly natural scent. I liked this eye crème, but definitely loved the other two Ole Henriksen products more. Find it here!
