DIY Game Day Apparel

“Fight! Fight! Fight!” Tailgates and football games mean... going all out with your spirit wear! Upcycling your old Phoenix apparel is the best way to make a statement in the stands.

Maroon and gold cover every corner of your closet; from pom poms to sweatpants, you have it all. Game days are the biggest events of the season and with homecoming around the corner, you want to perfect your sporty and cute look. Whether you wear these tops at soccer games or the infamous girl’s basketball games, everyone will be sure to know that you have great energy for the best teams around.

LOOK #1

Although Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera originated the crop top, this trend has remained fierce through the years. Snipping the bottom of a sweatshirt can create a cut that accentuates your curves. Match this top with high waisted bottoms to keep you warm and fashionable in the brisk autumn weather.

LOOK #2

The cut-out triangle top has been plastered over every department store window the past year, and it only seems to grow in popularity. To complete this look, we dug out a distressed Elon shirt and cut the sleeves off.  We swiftly snipped an upside down triangle on the front of the shirt, while still keeping the collar intact. This style is best molded to your body by checking in the mirror after each cut to ensure the proper angles you desire.

LOOK #3

This next look may seem complicated at first, but with a few swipes of your scissor your old shirt will be transformed into a flirty halter top. Simply cut your game day top like the picture below and tie the two longer pieces of fabric around your neck and back.

LOOK #4

To acquire a tie-up tube top, all you need is fifteen minutes of your day. Cut the collared top and bottom off of your shirt as well as the sleeves. Next, chop the sides of the shirt and make four inch incisions along both sides. Tie each piece of fabric from the front to the back on both sides to construct a fresh and unique creation.

LOOK #5

This oversized beaded t-shirt dress will make you more iconic than any Kardashian. To begin, repeat the same steps of the cut-out triangle top seen in look #2. Chop the bottom hem of your top and make six inch cuts moving upwards. To emphasize your school spirit, slide maroon and white beads through each piece of fabric and end with a knot. Your dress should flatter your figure and demonstrate your crafty sense of fashion.
