How to Rock Your Sorority Gear

If you’ve gone through big-little week or joined a sorority, you know the gear comes fast and in plentiful amounts. You are probably drowning in bid day shirts, stitched letters, tanks, tees, and bags right about now. Sporting your sorority gear is a fun and exciting amenity to joining an organization, but a greek letter t-shirt and jeans won’t get you featured on your srat’s Instagram. Before you stuff all of your sorority apparel in the back of your closet, try out a few of these looks to reinvent the way you wear your letters.

Your sorority’s colors may be hot pink and green, but that doesn’t mean your entire wardrobe has to switch to that aesthetic. Being in a sorority entails representing yourself and your organization in the best light possible, and wearing what will make you feel and act your best. Personally, I feel most confident in black, and pairing a srat shirt with black shorts or jeans is cute, comfy, and stylish. Adding a belt and your favorite statement sunglasses can tie the whole look together.

On a different note, some ‘srat’ tees are vibrant and loud and deserve to be the highlight of an outfit. Shirts will be passed down for years, and you may find that some of yours are pretty outdated. Don’t fret; this makes for a perfect blast to the past style guide! Rock a 90s style outfit with the wildest greek letter shirt you own. Pair it with bell bottom jeans, and if you’re adventurous add a jean jacket for he classic denim-on-denim look. Play around with fun jewelry and finish off the look with some high top sneakers.

While sororities want you to feel and look your best in letters, a lazy day every once and a while never hurt anyone. If you’re late for class, traveling, had to wake up early, or just want to be comfortable, this outfit is still super stylish. Patterned sweatpants or joggers go a long way when looking put-together even on your worst day. I love to pair them with fun sneakers and my favorite hat or beanie (this covers up your hair too - bonus!). If it’s cooler out, toss on a leather jacket and you have yourself a look to kill!

It’s no doubt Coachella is one of the most stylish places and events in this country, but if you can’t land yourself tickets to the festival you can still rock Coachella style anywhere. Bohemian inspired looks are so easy to create with a simple vintage tee. Grab your sorority shirt that looks wise beyond its years and pair it with a flowy maxi skirt or fun crepe pants. Dress up the look with girl-positive pins and chunky heels. Don’t forget some tassel earrings or a pair of round sunglasses before heading out the door.

Ahoy! This look is fit for a day on the dock in Rhode Island or in class if you want to add some fun to your look. Find a sorority shirt with a pastel color featured (bonus if there’s an anchor or a shell on the shirt) and pair it with a Lily Pulitzer skirt or a light-colored pair of pants. Even though diamonds are a girl's best friend, this outfit would not be complete without a set of pearls. Add fun nautical accessories and a baseball cap and you’re ready to hit the water (or the books).

Pull the bucket down from on top of your closet or dig out the suitcase from under your bed; the 100 shirts you got can be put to good (and stylish) use. If you recreate any of these looks, please tag us at @elonedge we would love to see your look!
