Three Teas for Every Mood & Time of Day
Like a lot of other college students, my day often starts with some sort of caffeine. I have now become a huge coffee enthusiast, often craving a daily dosage. Tea is my alternative. A “cuppa” (as the brits would say) provides a morning boost but also can help your body in other ways that coffee can’t, and not only in the AM. And the best part about these teas — you can order them on Amazon!
Morning
The Republic of Tea Double Green Matcha Tea
Oh, the world of matcha. A social media craze that has seemed to make it the “it beverage.” But let me tell you, matcha is no joke. Matcha plants are prepared in a way that give them 10 times the nutritional value of regular green tea and up to 137 times the amount antioxidants. Here’s the best part: it has TONS of caffeine. You can be #healthy and still drink your morning pick me up.
These bags have become a statement for me. It’s easy, there’s no need to prepare the powder, and strong enough to get me going in the AM. It was leaf at first sight. Order it here.
MID-DAY
Harney & Sons Peppermint Herbal
My roommates and I have been drinking this tea since we discovered it our first semester Freshman year. This aromatic tea is to die for. Whenever I steep a mug, I hold it close to my face and inhale the heated minty scent. Sounds weird, but this happens almost every time I give it to someone else for the first time. This tea is refreshing and also has a lot of health benefits.
Peppermint can heal an upset stomach and decrease bloating and indigestion. I struggle with a lot with stomach complications, and this tea always has me feeling better. It’s a perfect post-lunch drink that provides a revitalizing taste to keep ya goin on the grind. Order it here.
Evening
Yogi Detox Tea
I adore getting cozy before bed. Curling up in sweatpants and a fuzzy blanket, lighting some candles, reading a book and drinking this tea. I’ve always loved drinking tea before bed and this has been my go to ever since I discovered it years ago.
This tea is totally caffeine-free so you won’t have any trouble getting to sleep. In fact, I think its spicy taste sort of gives a calming effect that gets me ready to snooze.
This tea isn’t part of any sort of intense tummy shrinking weight-loss plan like some others out there, although is made to restore a sort of balance internally. It has a combination of healthy herbs, including “trikatu,” a mix of Ginger, Black Pepper and Long Pepper, traditionally used to support digestion and circulation. Yogi has a mission to aid its customers in bringing healthy balance from within. After a long day, especially after a big dinner, this tea is the there to help you feel relief and relaxed.
