Something Navy, Something to Admire
Arielle Charnas is far more than your average social media influencer. It all began in her college years when she started a fashion blog, “Something Navy,” to win over her boyfriend of the time. The relationship may not have lasted, but her career as a fashion and lifestyle blogger certainly did.
Over the past nine years, Charnas has grown her social media presence from a hobby to a full-time career. Her focus is her lifestyle blog but she also has an Instagram account, which has accumulated over 1.1 million followers. In addition to launching multiple clothing lines with Nordstrom, she also married her real life Chuck Bass and has two beautiful daughters. Talk about a girl boss!
Based in New York City, Charnas and her team upload content daily on her blog and social media accounts. Something Navy’s website is home to practically everything there is to know about fashion. She also posts about makeup and other products she loves, as well as her family life. Her online presence feels natural and it’s clear that she cares about her followers. She produces content that she is clearly proud of and that other women can relate to. You can find her doing personal Q and A’s about her work and family life frequently on her Instagram story, @ariellecharnas.
Charnas credits Instagram for her career as a serious blogger in the industry. In the past few years, she has worked with big name brands like L'oreal, Revolve, Briogeo hair care and many others. She is honest with her followers about how bloggers make their money through deals like these. She keeps it real while reassuring her audience that she would never work with a brand she doesn’t truly love.
In 2017, Nordstrom’s label “Treasure and Bond” collaborated with Something Navy. The line racked up a whopping $1 million in sales in just 24 hours. Now, a year later, Nordstrom has given Charnas yet another deal, except this time the line carries her own name — “Something Navy.” Her exclusive line launched on Nordstrom’s website on September 24th and managed to crash their site for a brief amount of time. Her products are size inclusive and under $150, with the goal of appealing to all kinds of consumers.
Her collection for Nordstrom features adorable pieces, and while it sold quickly, the website still has a few items in stock. For someone who started a blog in college over a boy, launching her own line for a mega department store is something to aspire to. Not to mention she had her second daughter just a few months ago.
Charnas’ social media accounts are a great place to turn for tips on fashion, beauty and lifestyle. She presents herself as very genuine and if nothing else, the pictures of her baby are sure to brighten anyone’s day. Influencers like her are what keep the blogger industry booming and give young girls something to look up to.
