Traveling On a Budget
Traveling as a college student can be hard, so here are some of our best tips on how to get the most bang for your buck
Flights: When booking flights it’s best to book in advance for the best itinerary, but this isn't always true. Subscribe to apps and email lists such as Hopper and Scott's Cheap Flights to learn when prices are at their lowest!
Hostels: Instead of booking a $200 hotel, try a hostel or an Airbnb! These alternatives can run anywhere as cheap as $15 a night and are often super cool hidden gems. Europe is especially known for hostels, and they are an easy place to stay if you’re traveling for a while.
Tours: Instead of booking tours and excursions for vacations try and venture off the beaten path. Most tourist attractions are usually very busy and are sometimes not even worth it. Talk to locals to get the inside scoop on places that could be just as cool without the price!
Be open to new places: Sometimes places that you don’t even consider can offer many new opportunities and experiences for cheap. Keep an open mind and try new things!
Food: Make sure to pack snacks so you don’t have to pay for endless meals. Plus, if you eat out at more expensive restaurants, do it for lunch and not dinner. You can save a couple bucks!
