Looking Back on Xi Week!

Last week, October 22, Alpha Xi Delta, one of Elon’s nine sororities, held events to benefit their philanthropy, Autism Speaks.

Autism Speaks is an organization that raises funds that support families and those who have a relationship with autism. In preparation for the events, tables were set up in Moseley and suring college coffee so students could purchase a ticket.  If you couldn’t make it there, then you could purchase a ticket at the door!

On Tuesday, Alpha Xi Delta held their much anticipated Xiti Dinner where you can have unlimited ziti and garlic bread for $5. They even had vegan and gluten free options for those who needed it!

Not only is this a great deal, but all the ziti is homemade by the sisters of AXiD!

Elon members look forward to this event every semester because of the great food and the amazing cause all the money goes to.

After the amazing turnout on Tuesday, on Saturday, October 26th, AXiD had another event- Bump It Thump It (BITI).

BITI is another philanthropy event where other organizations on campus can form a volleyball team and be coached by one of the sisters of AXiD. The teams play each other in a bracket tournament, with one winner at the end.

This week, we were able to talk to Giuli Adams, AXiD’s philanthropy chair, about what Xi Week means to her.

“Xi Week has always been my favorite part of being in Alpha Xi Delta because it rallies the entire chapter to raise money for a charity that is so near and dear to our hearts,” Adams said. “Being in a sorority gives you the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than yourself and that is exactly what Xi Week is.”

The Edge was really able to see first hand how much Autism Speaks means to the girls of AXiD.
