Instagram Accounts That'll Bring You *Actual* Joy

It’s probably safe to say we no longer have to be embarrassed about how much time we spend on Instagram. There are companies out there that will actually rebrand and manage your Instagram account so you don’t have to! Technology!

But don’t you get bored?

It's fun to see your friends from high school thrive and funny to see your mom and grandma try to navigate the murky waters of social media. If you ever see some of our comments on Instagram, you know we literally scream our love for our friends and family. We love to see some #sponcon and all our favorite bloggers sharing their daily #ootds.

At some point though, we feel like we’re scrolling into this big abyss of branding. We want some content that will bring us some actual joy. We want posts that will push the small box of Instagram and some influencers who will turn their accounts into artsy wonderlands.

Somehow, our prayers to Mark Zuckerberg, god of the Instagram, and Eva Chen, chief of all that is pure and good in Instagram fashion, have decided to gift us with two accounts that will ROCK YOUR WORLD. No more need to hide under the covers and cry after seeing all those basic graphic tees with puns about coffee.

(On a side note, we kinda like those. We used to get really upset, but realized we should spend more energy compiling bomb Insta accounts.)

Man Repeller

Who knew there were other people just as #edgy and #fashion-forward as us? ( Jokes, guys). Man Repeller constantly pushes the envelope and loves to delve deep into the dichotomy and the relationship between fashion, culture, and our current society. Our favorite series has to be men sharing their experiences with abortions. We haven’t seen any other articles with this particular viewpoint, and it exemplifies Man Repeller’s duality in conversations of both fashion and culture.

We also happen to love Leandra Medine. We mean love as in we constantly send our friends DM’s of her pictures and yell (again) about how similar we all are. Her style is unlike anything we’ve ever seen. Clothes we would think about layering are suddenly this masterpiece on the Man Repeller website. If you are not wearing flip flops with white flare jeans and a large sweater, what are you doing?

To us, the person Leandra (and the rest of Man Repeller) seems to want to impress most is herself. The quote “dressing for yourself” is thrown around a lot in the fashion industry, and we believe most brands and influencers think that the majority of consumers still dress for other people because their designs tend to reflect that. What we love most about Man Repeller is not that they don’t care about the fashion industry— it’s just that they work the fashion industry their way and aren’t afraid to do so.

What Fran Wore

THIS INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT IS PURE GOLD. We vaguely remember watching “The Nanny” when we were younger, but it was way before our time, so we sadly missed out on the complete fashion and creative genius that is Fran Fine. In our research, we discovered that Fran Drescher developed, created, and produced “The Nanny” while also acting as the main character Fran. Talk about duality! #Queen.

Fran may have lived in the ‘90s, but she might as well have been shopping in the current day. Seems like plastic bottles are not the only things recycled. Fran’s outfits straddle the line between chic and completely zany. The colors, prints, and fabrics are almost outrageous to the point of non-wearability, but Fran makes it work. Fran’s personality is as evident in her acting as it is in her animal print dress.

We love this Instagram for the same reasons we love Man Repeller. It’s more than just statement pieces; Fran’s outfits are more like statements of art. Her creativity and love for fashion is evident throughout the different posts, each with a specific sparkle of Fran Fine. It reminds us that these Instagram accounts are not just about the clothes themselves but the people wearing them.
