Stress Management: We Got you Covered!

A decade is about to end, and for most of us, this decade is what made us who we are and molded what the rest of our years will look like.

So let’s enjoy the last few weeks of such a monumental decade. Even though we are in the midst of exams and tensions are running extremely high, there are ways to bring down your stress levels and still get your work done. Here is a list of The Edge’s personal tips on how to survive these last couple weeks:

  1. Avoid Distractions- especially when getting work done. If you are studying for your Spanish final and you get a text from your bestie, try to put your phone away and let them know you’ll respond later!

  2. Meditate- as much as you can. You do not need to be a professional for this. It is as simple as closing your eyes, taking deep breaths, and focusing on yourself; even if it is just for a minute.

  3. Look After Yourself- often times, we as a society get caught up in busy culture, and we think it is better to get done what we need to get done instead of thinking about what our soul’s need. Eat a whole meal, do not pull all nighters, and shower! How are you supposed to be a star student if you’re hungry, tired, and greasy?

  4. Accept and Face Challenges- As much as we all do it, procrastination is not your friend. Even the people who say they work better under pressure cannot be helped when it comes to exams. Avoiding your work will not make it go away, and as much as we hate to admit it, it makes it so much worse. So, instead of studying for your Statistics final on Thursday, when you have to take it friday at 8 a.m., maybe start on Monday.

  5. Make a List- this one is simple. Get out a piece of paper, write down absolutely everything you need to accomplish that day, even the tiny stuff, and when you get it done, you can cross it off. Not only is it super satisfying but you are also less likely to forget something. We suggest writing down easy stuff like, showering, laundry, and eating, because it will remind you to reflect on how you are actually doing.

  6. Wake Up Early- this may seem painful and when your alarm goes off you are not going to want to, but when you are stressed this is so important. Waking up early allows you more time to get ready, and also some chill time with just yourself. You can use this time to work on a paper, or tidy up your space.

As much as these last few weeks of the semester simply stink, know that every person on campus is experiencing the exact same thing as you.

You are not alone, and this too shall pass.
