Black Friday was a FLOP.
Black Friday is dubbed the best day of the year to score some steals. Unfortunately, this year proved that the day might not be worth all the hype.
Hannah Jablonski’s Black Friday escapades:
Every year I head to the mall to see what deals I can find. However this year, store after store, I walked in and out with empty hands. By mid-afternoon I had managed to accumulate a couple of bags, however, these bags held nothing more than some needed essentials such as underwear from Aerie (Deal: 10 for $30). And bras and pjs from Victoria Secret (Deal: buy one get one free). Both of these places were giving out free totes if you spent $75, and blankets if you spent $150. So, you could cuddle up with a blanket alongside the lengthy receipts you accumulated - … nice!
I had a little more luck at Sephora. In need of some travel size products luckily Kheils was doing a deal if you spent $75, you got a free gift full of all the travel-sized products I was looking for! So, I stocked up on my moisturizer, oil cleanser, and cucumber face wash and I scored my free travel size goodies!
All-day I had been refreshing my email inbox to see if any deals would pop up throughout the day. Unfortunately, the stores that I got excited about didn’t have sales sitewide. Instead, they just had a section of items 20 or 50 percent off, and these items were last season and not on-trend. Glossier did have 20% all their products so I was able to stock up on my favorite boy brow. Catch these brows looking 10/10!
The take away of the day was it was a good time to refresh on the essentials, underwear, bras, skincare, makeup. But the reality of the fact was that the majority of sales started a week before Black Friday. And my Black Friday Haul proves that there really was no reason to wait, or skip out on a good nights rest
Madison Lemone’s card swiping story:
Why My Credit Card is Maxed Out…
I may have a slight shopping addiction, but in 2019 who doesn’t?!
I have to admit, I may have cheated my way around the traditional Black Friday experience this year. Usually, I am a sucker for that post-Turkey, midnight run to the mall. I throw on beaten up sweatpants and Uggs (how fashionable) and get ready to beat the crowds of aggressive moms.
This year, however, I decided to do a combination of shopping online and in-store before Black Friday. One of my favorite places to shop, Lord & Taylor’s, was offering a limited pair of both diamond and pearl earrings for less than $30 each. I almost had a heart attack at the mall I was so excited. At Lord & Taylor’s I also picked up a pair of destroyed denim jeans and a maroon zipper sweater(Deal: 40% off everything)! I have found throughout the years that you can always count on bigger department stores for unbeatable prices on trendy brands like Free People and Blank NYC on this holiday.
And you know I had to stock up on my favorite beauty supplies. Makeup seems to consistently have great prices throughout Black Friday, and neither Sephora nor Ulta disappointed. I grabbed a Mario Badescu facial trio with the infamous rosewater refreshing spray for only $15. And, I’m pretty sure I heard VSCO girls around the world cheering me on with that purchase. Wandering the crowded aisles, I also spotted the new Urban Decay Honey collection. It has the most beautiful gold colors to compliment any skin tone. Luckily they created a holiday gift collection curated with three holy grail products and an exclusive 6-shade Mini Honey Eyeshadow Pallette. You’ll be sure to catch me glowing all out adorning the sweetest shades of honey on my face.
Next, I had to enter Urban Outfitters. Everything was buy one get one 50% off. In my opinion this really isn’t the best deal, so I walked on over to the sale section. Searching through racks and racks of clothing I found the most adorable 60s style baby blue leather jacket with fur around the arms and neck. To match the fun vibes of the season, I grabbed a gold diamond belt. Styling the two with some black ripped jeans and a white girly top is the most extra aesthetic, and I am soooo here for it.
But, I couldn’t leave the mall without making a stop at Lululemon. To be honest, I don’t think I have ever left the mall without stopping in… You win some you lose some, and for Lululemon, my bank account will always take the L! On the sale rack, I found some great athleisure pieces. I grabbed got five regular priced tops on sale (Deal: $15-25 off). For a store that rarely budges on their price points, I consider this a pretty big deal. As for those oh-so-comfortable Wunder Under’s, I discovered the cutest spotted print leggings (Deal: $20 off). With material that resists sweat stains and shrinkage, Lululemon always has my back.
After maxing out my credit card and taking two trips to the car, I was exhausted. Soon after a long 15-hour-sleep, I was ready for my Thanksgiving dinner with the family. Stuffing myself with mashed potatoes and the most tender turkey, I stretched my fingers out as I prepared my body and mind for the online deals.
I got a stunning silk and mesh light pink dress as well as a red silk rouched top from Verge Girl (Deal: 25% off everything). Raiding through the depths of Australian boutiques, I discovered an Insta-worthy, oversized, sand sweatshirt embroidered with “Pray the fakes get exposed” from a Youtuber-recommended brand called Sisters and Seekers (Deal: 20% off everything).
Needless to say, this holiday season your favorite fashion editor is going to look extremely boujee and she couldn’t be happier. Online stores had the best deals in my opinion. I never had to stand in a twenty-minute long line sweating out pumpkin pie as my grandmother tries to call me in Victoria’s Secret, so I definitely consider online shopping a win. Next time you start to get those Black Friday emails in your inbox, be sure to order your favorite items asap. After all, isn’t the best way of spending money in your PJ’s cuddled up in your bed?!
