The Newest Accessory: Nail Art
There is a rarely a time when you will find me without a coat of paint on my nails. To be completely honest, I feel butt naked without my nails done. Okay, maybe not that extreme, but your nails are a commonly underrated canvas for self-expression and statement making.
Now you might be thinking that Instagram worthy nail art services are hard to come by and are paired with a hefty price tag. For many, is not exactly one we can DIY given it requires precision, skill, and extreme artistic ability. However, the best kept secret in the manicurist field is that trendy nails are actually much more attainable than one may think.
I discovered the talent of Lily from Creative Nails located on Church street right by Elon’s campus. From stars to little faces, and for only $30, Lily has miraculously painted little works of art on my nails. The perfect subtle statement to add to any outfit. Here you can find the little masterpieces and outfits inspired by each.
Look #1: GOLD STARS
Done by @Krissy.kruk
Inspired outfit: White t-shirt knotted paired with a black midi bodycon skirt. When I think of stars, I try to dress chic but with a little bit of edge. I think bodycon skirts are the perfect choice because it is incredibly flattering on any body type and leaves me feeling confident.
Look #2: METALLIC
Inspired outfit: White flared pants, paired with a grey mock neck and pink faux fur jacket, styled with a leopard belt and white loafers. With a color as fierce as metallic, I want to make them the center of attention. Adding rings will help your hands will stand out with this sparkly polish!
Look #3: FACES
Inspired outfit: Black jeans and black shirt, paired with a red cardigan and styled with a scarf tied to the belt look and a felt hat. These nails made me think of trips I would take to an art museum. I wanted to pair these nails with an artsy ‘fit that is still comfortable.
Look #4: PINK STARS
Inspired outfit: Comfort jeans with fringe bottoms paired with black tank and white button up. Pink stars read very retro and urban to me, so I decided to dress very comfy and laid back.
