Care/of: A Vitamin Enthusiast’s Honest Review

I regularly take vitamins. A mix of vitamin B, zinc, kelp, lion’s mane mushroom, magnesium and vitamin D. This personalized concoction was designed after intense research by my mom and a visit to a local naturopath (which I can only describe as the closest thing to a homeopathic witch.) I trust which vitamins I’m taking because I now know exactly what my deficiencies are, which apparently companies like Care/of can do within five minutes via an easy quiz on their site. I was curious if it could accurately assess my vitamin deficiencies, so I tried it myself.

Care/of is a personalized vitamin and supplement subscription service that delivers 30 packs of vitamins and powders to your doorstep every month. The cost ranges from $5 to $19 per supplement, but can fluctuate if they recommend more or less vitamins. Based on my quiz, my vitamin pack would be $32 per month. This price is pretty good for vitamins, only one of my bottles costs $20+, however a bottle does last longer than thirty days.

The quiz asked questions about my knowledge of vitamins, gender, and where I live. It also addressed my fitness level, what kind of foods I eat in an average week, and if I have any food allergies or avoidances. The quiz also asked me if I could swallow big pills or would prefer smaller ones. That’s pretty good personalization, I’d say. It even asks if I have knowledge about Ayurveda, a traditional Eastern medicine, to gauge my willingness to try it. I was open to trying anything they thought would suit my needs, but the company understands that some people may not be as willing and can easily accommodate that.

After taking the quiz, the site asked if I would like to see my recommended vitamin pack, powders, and/or ‘quick sticks’ which are “targeted, on-the-go nutrients that taste delicious,” according to the company. I chose all three in the spirit of research. For my vitamin pack, Care/of recommended magnesium, rhodiola, and adaptogenic mushrooms, a mix of shiitake, reishi, and maitake. For each vitamin, the site provided the explanation of their reasoning as well as all ingredients, dosage, origin, and that it excludes all food allergies and what I want to avoid. They nailed the mushroom and magnesium, pushing my trust in Care/of even further. Once you choose the vitamins and supplements you want delivered, they get sent straight to you sans delivery fee in packages labeled with your own name (so cute)!

In the end, Care/of has proved to be a thorough, easy-to-use, fast service that provides vitamins researched by a team of vetted academics through thousands of vitamin studies. Personally, I’m going to stick to my own vitamin bouquet, but if you don’t have the time or resources to locate your own witchy homeopath, Care/of is a reliable and beautiful personalized service that I wholeheartedly endorse.
