Scott Studenberg Designs for Good Vibes

Scott Studenberg is back (after a three-year hiatus) with a refreshing, revamped line that gives off good vibrations only.

The cofounder of Baja East took some time to recalibrate his brand after losing his partner, and he chose NYFW to step back into the spotlight.

Despite the shows being hosted on the East Coast, Studenberg maintained loyal to his roots and debuted his ready-to-wear Spring 2020 collection straight from California.  His clothes were displayed in a “salon” as opposed to the typical runway, and he even brought rugs from his own home out West so the models could step into his entire vision.

His inspiration came from Joshua Tree, a national park in Southern California.  The park’s desert vibes manifested a lot of fringe and notes of blue skies and tie-dye sunsets into his line.  Some pieces were lined with crystals on their hems, but Studenberg said each color was inspired by types of crystals people use to harbor good energy and fortune.

From sweatshirts and graphic tees, to metallic bodysuits, and a dash of formal tops like blouses and blazers, Studenberg incorporated it all. This time around, he used a range of prices so that not just a “few” women could wear his clothes.

Despite creating his own trends and styles, he also advocated for some styles that we’ve been seeing for some time now, animal print being one of them.  A snakeskin bodysuit and a black and white matching leopard two-piece tracksuit are among the designs, and clearly these patterns are here to stay for at least one more season!

Another trend he gave his nod of approval to? The cowboy boot.  The western trend is in full force.  Let it be known that cowboy boots look good with anything.  Scott Studenberg told us so, we don’t make the rules.

Perhaps the best piece from his collection, and the most “ready-to-wear” is the white graphic sweatshirt that reads “100% that (Baja) B****”...an ode to the popular singer, Lizzo, and an ode to all of us at the end of a long day.

Studenberg’s line taught us how to dress for the energy we attract, and sport some bada** quotes to show everyone who’s boss. If you take any inspiration from his line, we would love to see it! Tag us @theedgemag for a chance to be featured.
