Everything You Need to Know About Levi's Buy Back Program
Levi Strauss & Co has been the trusted name and brand behind high-quality denim since 1873. A pair of Levi’s are designed to mold to your body and last a lifetime. They are an American staple. So what has Levi’s been up to recently? As the push to move towards sustainable fashion continues, Levi’s joins the movement by creating Levi's Secondhand.
Levi’s launched this recommerce site to connect vintage lovers and thrifters with their perfect pair of already broken in-second hand Levi’s. Essentially Levi’s created an online thrift store and extended the “life cycle” of their garments. The program keeps their vintage denim out of landfills and puts them back into someone's home to be loved and worn for years to come.
So, how does it work?
Essentially, it is a buyback program. Anyone can bring their old Levi jeans and jackets to a participating store. In return for the items, they receive a gift card. Then, the pieces are professionally cleaned, sanitized and posted on https://www.secondhand.levi.com, extending the life cycle of the items. Other’s can shop from the site and create their own story with the jeans, putting together new looks and making them their own!
Levi Secondhand is “All about connecting people to timeless styles they otherwise may not have found, and most importantly, saving clothing from going into a landfill. Old denim has never looked better.” ~Levi Secondhand
Whether you plan to shop at Levi’s Secondhand or not, this is an important message to be heard and shared. Levi’s initiative and mission in launching Levi’s Secondhand should be an inspiration to other large brands in the industry. We all have a responsibility to care for the environment, and if other companies continue to follow in Levi’s footsteps more and more fashion waste can be eliminated.
