How to Beat that Isolation Boredom
With COVID-19 running rampant at Elon, longer periods of self-isolation are crucial. Even though it’s necessary for your health and everyone else's doesn’t mean it’s fun. Here’s a list of COVID-safe activities during your isolation.
Paint by Numbers
Painting by numbers is not only a cheap way of unleashing your creativity, but it’s also incredibly time-consuming. It also requires zero creative ability…it’s basically tracing taken to the next level! This is a very good thing when it comes to being in isolation for two weeks.
Spa day
In your room, at least. Nothing about isolating yourself from the rest of the world for two weeks is glamorous, so treat yourself with a spa day filled with face masks, painting your nails and hot baths or showers.
Nail your skincare routine
If you don’t already have some new products you want to try, use what you already have. Get consistent with your routine and application and hopefully you’ll see a difference when isolation time is up.
Meditation
Meditation can be difficult to get into when you have a lot of distractions or are really busy. Luckily for you, isolation is the perfect time to get into meditating! Meditating is so healthy for your mind and can really keep you calm and relaxed when you aren’t feeling too great.
Social Justice
There is going to be plenty of time to educate yourself more on topics that are important to you. Movies, articles, YouTube videos, shows, etc. With the current state of the world we are living in, this is never a bad idea.
Yoga
Yoga can seem daunting to someone who hasn’t done it before, but starting out as a beginner is doable for almost everyone. This is a calming, low-impact workout that will bring you peace and relaxation. There are lots of easy-to-follow yoga routines on YouTube!
Catch up on school work
No matter the semester, school work never seems to end, and it's nearly impossible to get ahead. Since there won't be much else going on in your time in isolation, this is the perfect opportunity to not only catch up on work, but also get ahead so when you return you won’t be too overwhelmed.
Reading
If you are anything like me, you’ve had a stack of books sitting on your desk for months. Use this time to start and even finish some books. Luckily in our digital age, if you can’t go out and purchase a book, you can download pretty much every book in the world onto any device you have. This is such a peaceful activity to do when you aren’t feeling your best.
COVID isolation doesn’t sound like much fun, but unfortunately it is incredibly important for the health of everyone. So be kind to yourself and try to enjoy your time away as much as possible, and fill your days with activities that will benefit you and don’t forget to wear your mask!
