Spring 2020 Ready-to-Wear Fashion Week Trend Predictions

High fashion runway shows typically showcase eccentric looks that the average joe would never wear. Fortunately, twice a year, designers also present ready-to-wear collections, lines which present more so-called “suitable” clothing for the majority of the population.

While it not be obvious at first glance, some of the next hottest trends are spotted on the catwalk during these shows. The Spring 2020 Ready-to-Wear fashion shows are happening now, and here are the trends you can expect everyone to be wearing this spring season.

Blazers are no new trend to ready wear fashion, yet in this year’s fashion shows, designers present a fresh new take to this timeless item. Designers held nothing back as they experimented with silhouette, fabric, and closure choice.

This is evident in McQueen’s RTW collection, which deconstructed the traditional blazer silhouette and juxtaposed unique elements such as puffed sleeves and mid-waist cutouts and even threw in a blazer train. Dries Van Noten showcased a blazer dress with a silky floral pattern. These unique fresh takes on the everyday essential item highlight an exciting future for business wear as we know it.

Athleisure has been at the forefront of en vogue trends recently, and these designers continue to feed the craze. Dramatizing comfy even further, they introduce new silhouettes, which we can soon expect to see our favorite “it” celebrity rocking on a casual Sunday morning.

The sweatshirts on the runway featured a wide array of altercations from beaded sleeves and peplum silhouettes to blanket sleeves and deep cut necklines. We also continue to see the infamous biker short, puffer jacket, and matching leggings and sports top, which we are so here for!

Puff-Sleeve

The love affair for puff sleeves has captured the heart of every Instagram blogger. Why? Because this trend is fun and flirty without requiring a whole lot of extra styling. The buzz of this trend is one that’s here to stay, hence why it was in almost every runway show this season. Many designers showcased these unique sleeve designs in their ready-to-wear collections.

A Fresh Take On Straw

Think farmer turned high fashion. These looks resemble a Project Runway unconventional challenge, where instead of heading to Mood, all the materials came from a local farm. On the runway, we saw straw hats, straw bags, and even straw headbands. We also saw lots of linen and natural earth colors such as muted greens and beige. (Possibly a tribute to sustainable fashion?) Regardless of the political statement, this trend is fresh. We can see this becoming this year’s hot trend for festivals, such as Coachella.

Peek a Boo

As seen in Gucci, Dior, Tom Ford, and Rodarte

No secrets are safe with this upcoming trend. Risqué dressing at its finest: these high-end designers are putting it all out on the line. While the looks might appear to be too sheer for public consummation, they present a perfect opportunity to showcase your finest layering skills. Pair one of these bad boys with a sexy bralette and you will look très chic.
