How To Host A Netflix Party

I’m sure many of you have been missing Friday nights at school watching New Girl with your friends and fighting over the next movie or show to watch.

Self-isolation certainly calls for Netflix nights, and Google Chrome’s Netflix Party extension is here to help. It allows you to watch a show or movie with friends together in real time. So, those New Girl marathons and movie night’s can still go on (yay!).

Netflix Party is only available on Google Chrome, and all users must have a Netflix account. Follow these two simple steps to host your next movie night!

  1. Open Google Chrome and search for “Netflix Party Extension”

Click on the link that says “Netflix Party - Chrome Web Store” and click “Add to Chrome.”

2. Open a Video in Netflix

Once you open the show or movie, click the “NP” sign in the top right of the browser, then click “Start the party.” Once you do so, a link will pop up that you can copy and send to your friends to join. A chat opens up and you and your friends can talk and chat while watching the show! If you are not hosting the party, click on the link you receive and make sure to press the “NP” button in the top right corner to enable the extension.

And there you go! This extension has helped many of us feel more connected to friends (near and far), and we hope it does the same for you!

We definitely suggest Zooming or FaceTiming while watching so you can LOL together and truly feel as close to being with your friends as possible. Have fun with this and reconnect with your BFFs to make the most of your time stuck at home.
