What Elon Students Are Saying About The Chloe Ting Challenge

In light of social distancing and lockdown orders, many popular fitness bloggers and influencers are providing new and fun ways to get fit and healthy while stuck at home. One of them is Chloe Ting: fashion, lifestyle, fitness, and health blogger with over 6 million YouTube subscribers. Ting provides her followers 11 free home workout programs including: 25 Days Hourglass Challenge, 28 Days Flat Tummy, and 2 Weeks Shred Challenge all found on her website and YouTube page. These workouts have been named by Ting as “challenges” and her fans are now calling them the #ChloeTingChallenge. We asked fellow Elon students completing these challenges about the programs and how the challenges are going for them. Here’s what they said:

Katy Morrison, Class of 2022

Morrison saw friends and users completing the Chloe Ting’s Challenge on TikTok: “their videos had a ton of views so I figured it was worth a shot.” When her sister showed her the official program online, she decided she wanted to give it a go. Morrison also admits that with the extra time she has due to quarantine, there was no reason not to do it: “I've been wanting to really tone up and get in better shape for like 2 years, and I think with everything going on I just didn't have an excuse to not do it.”

Morrison is completing the 2 Week Shred Challenge and feels motivated to continue it as she sees results since pursuing the fitness challenge. She says, “I just feel a lot stronger and more toned already and so I keep wanting to push myself to see how much more I can do” and “the endorphins from the workouts just enhance my day so much and make me feel more motivated throughout the day. I end up going on like 10 mile walks every day just out of motivation to be healthier and keep bettering myself.”

She completes the workouts regularly around noon or 1 p.m and even adds “one or two extra workouts from her other challenges just cause [she] like[s] [Chloe Ting’s] style a lot.” The best part is that Morrison works out independently but will check up on the progress of her sister each day and they will tell each other their thoughts on that day’s challenge.

While maintaining a regular routine each day is difficult in quarantine, Morrison says these challenges “emphasized sticking to a routine and pattern in my own life” and helps her days feel as normal as possible in this weird time. After she completes the 2 week challenge, she says, “I undoubtedly will do another one of her challenges after. She’s had so many filmed over the last three years that I've even just watched when YouTube autoplays them.” Morrison advises others completing or just starting the challenge to “try to stay as tight to the program as you can! There are rest days built in there specifically to allow you to recover at the right time, so as much as your body can- push to stay on that routine!”

Meredith Adair, Class of 2022:

Meredith Adair got into Ting’s fitness challenges as she has a lot of time on her hands and “wanted to be healthier after eating so much during study abroad.” She completes the 2 Week Shred Challenge around 11 a.m. each day and continues at it because “I definitely feel more energized and it helps me sleep at night knowing I did at least one thing that was productive during the day.” As she is completing the challenge, she feels like “it’s made me want to eat healthier just because I’m feeling better overall!”

After she completes the challenge in the next 2 weeks, she decided she will be continuing with her other workouts. Adair also advises others who partake in the challenge that “It’s okay to take breaks when you first start because it’s super hard (especially if you haven’t worked out in awhile like me), but I can tell that I’m getting stronger and can definitely see more muscle definition.”

Zoe DelVecchio, Class of 2023:

Zoe DelVecchio first heard of the program from seeing it on YouTube as well as her friends giving recommendations. She decided to try it out because she “knew summer was coming soon, so [she] was doing this to help [her] get in better shape and feel more confident.” She began the first few days of the challenge with her mom but does it on her own now because “[she] like[s] working out by [herself] better.” She usually completes the challenge in the morning because it “sets up a good mindset for the rest of the day.” In addition, DelVecchio says she feels a lot better during the day by doing the workout. She says, “Mentally and physically I feel healthier and much more energized. I’ve also noticed I’m in a better mood too.” While the challenge is motivating and fun, she says “I’m trying to not let it consume my day to day actions. I eat a normal amount but definitely on the healthier side, but I never hesitate to grab a snack or dessert.”

When it comes to advice for others wanting to try out the challenge she says, “just do it for yourself and try to stay as committed as you can! You may not begin to see results right away, but consistency is key!” She adds, “I have one more workout day tomorrow to complete the program, and I definitely can see results and overall feel much healthier and active.”
