9 Trendy, Under $40 Bathing Suits You Can Score Somewhere Other Than Shein

It’s finally summertime, which means it’s time for a lot of things in our wardrobes to make their return: shorts, sunglasses, sundresses, and most importantly, swimsuits. The not so good part about bathing suits today? Their prices. Just a top—yes, a bikini top with less material than that bra you wear every other day—can go for upwards of $100. That’s insane! Luckily, there are several sites known for their inexpensive swimwear—so you can find a cute bathing suit on the cheap.

Say the words “budget-friendly bathing suit,” and Shein undoubtedly comes to mind. The online retailer currently has 8,000+ swimsuits on offer (not even kidding), and none of them cost more than $30. The issue? Shein has come under fire for their long shipping times, less-than-ethical production process, and offensive merchandise. You also get what you pay for. Their bathing suits—which usually cost $12 for both top and bottom—are far below good quality most of the time.

Thankfully, Shein isn’t the only place you can go to find a swimsuit that’s both budget-friendly and cute. Old Navy has tons of basics you can mix and match, Aerie has perfect one pieces, and PacSun has a killer sale section with high quality suits for less. Sure, digging up a cute, generally high-quality swimsuit that won’t break the bank is hard work—but it’s not impossible. And really, isn’t looking hot without wrecking your summer budget worth the extra effort?

1. RHYTHM Sahara Triangle Bikini Top/Cheeky Bikini Bottoms, $30

This brand is known for their basic triangle tops, but this particular one offers a fun pattern with an even better price. It’s like a little sunset in a bathing suit!

2. H&M Padded Bikini Top/Flounce-Trimmed Bikini Bottoms, $35

If you’ve been anywhere on social media lately, you know that tie-dye is in right now. Somehow, it makes everything look trendy, including this adorable ruffled swimsuit from H&M. Another plus? The top is padded and the bottoms are high-waisted—could it get any better?

3. AMERICAN EAGLE Aerie Wrap One Piece Swimsuit, $24.97

It can be tough to find the perfect one-piece, but look no further. For just $25, Aerie is offering this one with the most adorable bow and stomach peep hole in three different colors, including this showstopping blue. Imagine this suit in pictures with the ocean (I can already feel the likes).

4. OLD NAVY Tie-Back Triangle Swim Top/High-Waisted Swim Bottoms, $25

While Old Navy is definitely not known for their bathing suits, they honestly should be. They’re totally slept on, with amazing suits like this wrap top and high-waisted bottoms, all for under $30. The absolute perfect place to get your bathing suit basics if you ask me.

5. AMAZON Women Stripe Printing Padded Push Up 2 Piece Bikini Set, $25.99

Snakeskin is so hot right now that it’s practically essential to have a bathing suit in the print. Luckily, Amazon offers this one at an affordable price and in tons of sizes and colors. Plus, it’s Prime, so if you go order it right now, it should be on your doorstep in just a few days!

6. AMERICAN EAGLE Aerie V One Piece Swimsuit. $22.47

I just couldn’t help myself from including another Aerie one-piece. The tie straps and low back are perfect for if you want to look cute, but still have some coverage.

7. BOOHOO Mix & Match Beverly Hills Bikini Set, $13.50

Want to feel like a more mature Moana? This suit is for you. The tropical vibes of this set are amazing, and will make you stand out on the beach (or even in your backyard).

8. ASOS South Beach Ruched Bandeau Halterneck Bikini Set, $29.00

There’s something about the shiny bathing suit trend this year that is just so perfect. This option even has a cinched detail in the front, making it even trendier. Even better, the color will make anyone look tanner than they really are.

9. LA HEARTS BY PACSUN White Cari Scrunch Bikini, $32.18

It would be wrong not to include a strapless option—no one wants awful tanlines all summer! This one from PacSun is basic, but the texture adds something a little different to the popular design. Plus, who doesn’t love a high-waisted bottom?
