COVID-19 Takes College

These past few months have been full of uncertainty, and we continue to come across different challenges and adjustments to our daily lives. There are many questions that remain unanswered about what the future holds. It’s hard to think about when life will return back to normal, especially while transitioning to college. Below is a list of activities to fill your time and get rona off your mind.

1. Road Trip to Wilmington, NC

About three hours from Elon’s campus is the town of Wilmington and surrounding beaches. Wrightsville Beach has strong waves and a beautiful boardwalk. North Carolina coast is a great weekend getaway. While Phase 2 is still in effect, many restaurants, bars and clubs are closed. However, in the meantime, going to the beach for a day with friends is worthwhile.

2. Eno River State Park in Durham, NC

30 miles of serenity, Eno River State Park is the perfect place to escape to. Located in Durham, this park offers canoeing, kayaking, backcountry camping and great views. Eno River’s waters have great views that are perfect for floating, hanging out on the river or having a picnic. This park offers endless activities that are perfect for a sunny Saturday.

3. Hanging Rock State Park: Danbury, NC

Hanging Rock State Park offers great hikes with the best view of North Carolina greenery. This particular park has many fun activities to fill your day—such as 73 campgrounds, lake, canoes, 20+ miles of hiking trails and picnic grounds. There are over five miles of mountain biking trails that offer stunning views and a day full of activities. 

4. Friendly Center: Greensboro, NC

Friendly Center offers great shopping and restaurants. Located in Greensboro, Friendly Center is all outdoors, making it COVID-19 friendly. It also offers delicious restaurants, such as Chopt, Pieology, Clean Juice and The Cheesecake Factory. If you’re looking for a shopping day, there are great stores such as Madewell, West Elm, Sephora, Aerie and Brooks Brothers. Check out the shopping center’s website at https://www.friendlycenter.com/.
