Is the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer Really Worth the Hype?
Every week there seems to be a new, incredible hair gadget out there claiming to solve all of your hair problems. This time around, our culprit is Revlon’s One-Step Hair Dryer. This product is “designed to deliver gorgeous volume and brilliant shine in a single step” by combining a hair dryer and round brush in one.
As someone who struggles with all things hair, especially the skill of using both a hair dryer and round brush at the same time, this product instantly intrigued me. Luckily, my younger sister bought one while she was off at college, so it was mine to play around with when she returned home.
Prior to using it the first time I did a little research. I watched a short video on how to correctly use the brush, and I was given one key piece of advice: let your hair air dry for a little bit before using the tool. While it was definitely tricky to get the technique down, I was impressed by my first attempt, knowing it would only get easier.
At this point, I’ve used the dryer about five times, and I am here to confirm it is definitely living up to its internet fame. It takes me only a fraction of the time to dry my hair compared to a normal hair dryer, and it looks SO much better. It leaves me with little to no frizz, and as someone with extremely thick hair, that alone was impressive. But I’ve also noticed that my hair is significantly softer and shinier after I use this brush versus using a regular blow dryer or letting my hair air dry.
However, some consumers have shared horror stories related to this hair tool, including hair loss. To avoid this, use this tool with a heat protectant and on either the low or cool setting to minimize hair damage. Personally, I opt for the low setting not only to protect my hair but also to lessen the sound. Warning: if you choose to use it on its highest setting, there’s going to be A LOT of noise, so maybe check with your roommates before using it early in the morning.
Ultimately, I think this product is 100 percent worth the hype. And at a price tag of around $40, depending on where you purchase it, it’s not breaking the bank. All that’s left for me to do is get one of my own before heading back to school.
