Fall Break at Elon? The Edge’s To Do List

Midterms are almost over, the leaves are beginning to change, and fall break is upon us all; our first real break. This time off  is much needed by the entire Elon student body as we are starting to find ourselves turning into robots, forcing our stiff hands to write one more sentence, and type one more key. Living through Covid last year, we were not granted the gift of this beautiful 5 day escape, but now the time has come. Many will be leaving campus to go home to their families, or taking a trip to the beach or the mountains, but if you have found yourself residing in Elon for your fall break, we at The Edge have the perfect places for you. Here are 5 recommendations to pick yourself up out of your dorm or house, and go explore the beautiful state of North Carolina.

1. The Eno Rock Quarry

If you are a person that likes a little bit of adventure, take a 45 minute trip to the Eno Rock Quarry. This beautiful watering hole located in the Eno River State Park, is an amazing place to bring your friends, bathing suits, and plenty of food to make a picnic, because you will certainly be staying there all day once you take a leap of faith into the water.

2. Burlington Beer Works

As a brunch connoisseur, Burlington Beer Works is the place to go. Whether you’re in the mood for something sweet or savory, Beer Works has amazing options and drinks for you to enjoy with one friend or even ten. Located in downtown Burlington, it is also a great place to get dressed up in your favorite day outfit, walk around town, and have yourself a lovely photoshoot.

3. Lazy 5 Ranch

Ever feeling nostalgic about your childhood trips to the zoo? Don’t fret! We have the perfect location for you. Lazy 5 Ranch in Mooresville is filled with incredible and beautiful animals such as zebras, lemurs, giraffes, ostriches, and so many more. Now this is not your typical zoo because Lazy 5 Ranch offers the option for a ‘drive thru zoo.’ Grab some friends, pack your car, and head on down to feed some animals straight from your window!

4. Carowinds

Ready to feel the wind rush through your hair as you get flipped 360 degrees? Take a trip to Carowinds, Charlotte’s exciting theme park! With 57 attractions, including a water park, and all the greasy food you could eat, by the time the park is closing, someone will have to drag you out by the arm.

5. Day Trip to Asheville

If you are looking for a day filled with food, shopping, and even art, take a day trip to Asheville! Make sure to visit the numerous restaurants catering to every possible meal, shops and museums downtown to pick up a cute new top, or walk to the River Arts District to appreciate the beautiful architecture and paintings that have been produced by independent artists.

We at The Edge hope you have a restful and relaxing fall break, but make sure to spice it up with a little fun!
