Seven Days of Self-Care Challenge

Let’s admit it-- self-care can be hard. Between classes, internships, jobs and maintaining a social life, finding time to give yourself a little TLC can sometimes be tricky. We get it. Don’t beat yourself up over not doing a 12-step skincare routine and getting a massage every day. It’s super important to remember that even small acts of self-care are still beneficial to your mental, physical and emotional wellbeing. Without further ado, here is our 7-day self-care challenge!

Sunday: Spend 10 minutes journaling a plan for your upcoming week

Take a small chunk of time to gather your thoughts about the week ahead of you and let it all out onto paper. What do you need to accomplish each day this week? What are you most dreading about the week? Why? What are some ways you can effectively tackle it? What excites you about the week? What goals can you set for yourself? These are just a few prompts to get you started. If inspo strikes, then run with it! Journaling is such an easy and healthy way to nourish your soul and allow yourself to flesh out your thoughts.

Monday: Make a point to eat at least one nourishing meal today

We’re in college. It’s so easy to go to the dining hall and just grab some fries and a cookie and call it dinner. And sometimes, in moderation, that’s perfectly fine. But today, make a point to eat one healthy meal. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Remember, food is fuel. Putting good ‘fuel’ into your body gives you energy, helps with digestion, and overall boosts your mood. Try lean protein, leafy greens, colorful fruits and whole grains.

Tuesday:  Do one thing that brings you genuine joy

Today we challenge you to do one thing that is solely for you. Do something that you love or that you’re passionate about- just anything that brings you a sense of happiness and peace. Whether it’s tanning outside, doodling while watching TV, or going on a Dunkin’ run, do it!! We spend so much of our lives living to please others. Take the time today to live for yourself, not for other people. Remember that self-care isn’t selfish.

Wednesday: Set aside time to relax

It’s the middle of the week, and you’re exhausted. Allow yourself time to wind down and take a breather. Make a cup of tea. Do a face or hair mask. Take a quick nap. Do anything that calms you down. Let your mind and body reset so you’re able to take on the rest of the week at 100%.

Thursday: Declutter your space

Your dorm/apartment/house or any space you occupy is a space that represents you. We don't know about you guys, but we always feel better when we’re living in a clean area. Take today to declutter in preparation for the weekend. If a deep clean isn’t your vibe for today, no worries. Do as much as you can. Clear your desk of trash and loose papers. Wash all the dirty dishes. Put away that pile of clothes that’s been sitting there for weeks. Take out the trash and recycling. Wash your sheets (very important and something we all probably aren’t doing often enough).

Friday: Let’s get physical

We know, we know. It’s a Friday and all you want to do is enjoy the weekend and party hard. But, that’s exactly why you should exercise now! Get those endorphins (aka natural happy chemicals!) flowing and kick off the weekend with a bang. Exercise is such an important part of staying healthy, and there’s truly something for everyone. If running isn’t your jam, then don’t run. Find what works for you and what makes you feel good. Try new things! Yoga, biking, lifting weights or intramural sports are just a few examples. Have fun and get active! Your body will thank you after you treat yourself with food and drinks this weekend.

Saturday: Meditation and reflection

Take a few minutes to read the journal entry that you wrote on Sunday. Get into a comfortable position in a quiet space, close your eyes, and allow yourself to reflect on the past week. Were you able to meet the goals you set for yourself? What will you change for next week? What’s something that challenged you this week? What was your favorite part of the week? Take 15 minutes to meditate and be mindful of how you’re spending your precious time. Are you living each moment to the fullest? How can you work on that?
