Cheugy v.s. Trends

To start off, we must address the word Cheugy, it’s all over Tik-Tok so you must have heard it. But if you’re still wondering, cheugy is pronounced “chew-gee” and is basically a word for out-of-date trends. For instance, Gucci belts with the huge double G logo, anything chevron, wearing Ugg boots, or shirts that say “Rosè All Day.” According to Urban Dictionary, chuegy is defined as “another way to describe aesthetics, people, or experiences that are basic.”  So chugey can be used to basically describe anything and is not just directed at women’s fashion, although it is used mostly for fashion trends. Trends, which are pretty self-explanatory, are the latest in fashion.

If you are still having trouble understanding the difference between the two, here is a TikTok that my controversial queen Trisha Paytas made:

And if we are going, to be honest, Trisha Paytas is chuegy too.

However, chuegy has been pretty much canceled due to the toxicity surrounding the word. I agree that this word can cause extreme harm and can hurt people’s feelings but, if you are still wearing knee-high lace-up boots, with skinny jeans and a side part maybe we should be calling you chuegy.

All in all this piece is just an opinion piece and you should never put someone down if their styles don’t match up with yours! I hope by reading this article you’ve learned a new word or understood the word Chuegy a little more.
