Styling Trousers for Fall

With the rise in popularity of blazers, trousers or “work pants” have also become increasingly popular since spring 2021. In the spring and summer, we saw trousers being worn with crop tops or bra tops, but trousers are also perfect for the cooler months. We’re telling you now, trousers are the new jeans this fall and winter.

A lot of people may think of trousers as professional or fancy, but there’s countless ways to play around with these pants. Don’t be afraid to dress trousers up or down, they’re perfect with a pair of strappy heels or chunky sneakers. We recommend getting a few pairs for the fall; some neutral colors and maybe one or two fun colors to play around with. And, just like jeans, you can go ahead and decide whether you want them cropped, full length, straight leg, or tailored a bit tighter.

Here are a few of our favorite places to get trousers:

Zara

Zara has so many options of all different colors and styles, and they’re all at a reasonable price point!

Princess Polly

Some of our favorite neutral color trousers are from Princess Polly. We especially love that they office a lot of trousers in sets with a cute top that you can pair with them or separate.

Aritzia

Although these are a bit on the pricier side, they are definitely worth the investment. Trousers aren’t going anywhere any time soon so it’s not a bad idea to invest in a quality pair you really love!

ASOS

ASOS has a huge variety of trousers at a really reasonable price point! Definitely check these places out on the hunt for your perfect pair!

And here are some of our favorite ways to style trousers this fall:

Crop Top and Sneakers

We chose to pair two untraditional colors together for a more unique look. Wearing a simple crop top and pants can sometimes feel bland, so try experimenting with colors you normally wouldn't pair together. We would wear this with either sneakers or heels for a night out or to go to dinner.

Blazer and Heels

We chose to wear a small bra top under the blazer to keep the outfit casual, but if you had an interview or needed to go into the office you could totally wear a longer shirt or bodysuit with this.

Button Up

We could say a million reasons why you need to invest in button ups, but this outfit really speaks for itself. You could wear a button up fully buttoned and tucked in for a professional look, you could have only a few buttons done for a sexier casual look or you could have the shirt completely open as more of a sweater or jacket.

Bodysuit

This look is one of our favorites. Pairing black with black is just so classic and you can elevate it in so many ways. There are endless shoe and jacket options to pair with this look.
