What We Can All Learn From Meghan Markle
Oprah’s long-awaited, explosive two-hour interview on March 7th with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, was just - wow. Now a week after the interview, we believe there are many things to learn from Meghan.
Meghan shared many dark and disturbing things about her experience as part of the royal family (she spilled some piping hot English tea, if you will). She is a strong woman whose leadership is worth noting — even if she does not wear a crown upon her head. We want to share some of the reasons why we love Meghan and some lessons we can all learn from her.
Make your voice heard, speak UP
Meghan was not quiet. The fact that she was able to confront the racist behavior she experienced by unnamed members of the royal family [who we are dying to know] regarding the color of her son Archie’s skin took an incredible amount of courage. Also, to those unnamed individuals who were concerned about Archie’s skin color — wtf. Meghan challenging the royals by speaking out is something all of us can admire and respect. After all, respect is more valuable than any title.
Courage is the strongest quality
Meghan, as we already know, is a total badass. In the Oprah interview however, she revealed that she was severely struggling with her mental health. Meghan also mentioned how she was denied help when she asked for it.
When Harry came on the interview, he too admitted he had suffered from mental health issues as well in the past. Meghan emphasized how hard it can be to ask for help and even admit to struggling, let alone being denied aid. Asking for help is scary, it takes courage.
Just because it’s unconventional doesn’t mean it’s not right
Meghan and Harry leaving had everyone shook, but hey isn’t that good? Challenging norms can be scary, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be done. After all, that’s how change happens in society. Plus, it was definitely the best decision for them after learning what they went through from this interview.
Love is a powerful thing
On a brighter note, DAMN. Harry leaving behind his royal family just set the bar for a partner that much higher. If they aren’t willing to ditch royalty to become common folk for you then what the hell are all of us doing?!
Grace is Beauty
Meghan carries herself with such grace, it’s honestly hard not to be jealous of it. I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m taking notes. THAT, my friends, is what royalty looks like.
