Omighty: Is It Worth It?

Summer is just around the corner. This probably means you’ve been scouring the internet to find what all the Pinterest girlies are going to be sporting on their curated Instagram feeds. There’s a good chance while doing this research, that you’ve come across these trendy, floral mini dresses. These form-fitting, Hawaiian-esque prints (but not in a tacky way) mini dresses are the perfect looks to rock all summer long. So where are they coming from? Omighty is a clothing brand that caters to the y2k inspired fashion trends. It seemed like on every predicting summer trend TikTok an Omighty dress would be included. However, recently there have been more naysayers when it comes to how ethical the brand might be. While their prices might not reflect it, Omighty is considered fast fashion. Their sustainability rating is “not good enough” on the website Good On You. A majority of the criticism on Omighty is about the quality of the clothes, shipping, and sizing also in relation to how expensive it is.

Shipping

One of the main gripes with Omighty is how long the shipping process takes. We’re willing to give them a little wiggle room with this issue. Since we are still drudging through this pandemic, delivery is still delayed with some brands. But four months? Come on. That’s pushing it. In her video “MY HONEST OMIGHTY REVIEW,” Jasmine Cheek recounts her experience with the brand stating that they never gave her a tracking number and when she tried calling them out on their Instagram account, they deleted her comment. It was only when she threatened that she wanted a refund for her order that gave her the number. Her experience is not a fluke. Multiple people on TikTok shared similar qualms with the company.

Pricing

It’s expensive. All of their dresses are over $70. If people are comparing the quality of your clothes to Forever 21, maybe you should reevaluate the way you price your items. Also, you can easily find Omighty dupes on Amazon for less than $20.

Sizing and Quality

People have pointed out that the quality of the clothing feels cheap, and no one wants to feel like you’re paying more than what you're getting. Another issue people have pointed out is their sizing. Size diversity has been a topic of discussion in the fashion industry for a while now. People have called out brands like Brandy Melville and Lululemon for being too conservative with their sizing. When it comes to sizing, Omighty is not the most reputable company. The TikTok account @perfectgirlfriend shared her frustrations with the company when the large skirt she bought fit more like a medium. It’s 2021. It’s time for brands to commit to making their clothes inclusive for all body types.

Final Thoughts

What Omighty does well is marketing. They have been able to market themselves as a high-quality brand with the way they style their products and how popular they have become on social media. However, with how high their prices are, it almost feels like a scam to buy fast fashion. When you’re purchasing a dress that costs $75, you want the material to reflect that. All in all, Omighty no doubt has cute, trendy clothes, but before you buy from them make sure you have all the information you need.
