Sustainable Swimwear Is Making a Splash This Summer

With Summer on the horizon, you may be thinking about purchasing a new bikini (or five). There are so many brands out there and every other influencer seems to be promoting the same brands. Despite the cute styles and funky prints, some of the most popular swimwear brands are sadly not the most sustainable. This Summer vow to be stylish and sustainable by shopping at these five sustainable brands!

I. SHEKOU

A fan-favorite on the social media platform TikTok, this brand is based in a small factory in Jiangsu, China. As SHEKOU increased in popularity, more and more jobs became available for the local people of Jiangsu. The staff is treated like family and all employees earn a respectable, living wage. All swimwear is currently made from a small percentage of recycled water bottles and 1% of all revenue is donated to coral restoration efforts globally. By 2025 the brand hopes to create all products from 100% recycled materials.

II. Mara Hoffman

Not only is Mara Hoffman eco-friendly but size-inclusive as well. The brand produces and sells swimsuits ranging in size between XS to 3XL. These swimsuits are created using regenerated nylon, a fabric that is produced by recycling fishing nets, fabric scraps, recycled polyester, and even industrial plastic waste.
