The Ultimate Guide to Finding Your Perfect Pair of Summer Sunnies
Sunglasses are an essential accessory especially in the spring and summer months. However, the perfect shape and size can be hard to find. Ever bought a pair of sunglasses online that looked super cute, but when you got them you hated the way you looked? We’ve all been there. That’s why we’ve decided to do some digging and create a guide to help you find your perfect pair of sunglasses.
First thing we have to figure out: what is your face shape? There are 6 different face shapes but many people have a combination of a few so you can get away with lots of kinds of sunnies (or any kind—remember, this is a guide not a rule book)! If you’re looking to find what is usually best with your face shape, here’s a link to find out what face shape you have!!
Now that we’ve got that covered, let’s talk about the kinds of sunglasses that look good on each face shape (and include links of where to find them—you’re welcome).
Square Face Shape? Try Rounded Sunnies.
If you have a square face shape, you most likely have very angular features. To soften the features, especially if your face is more of a straight line down from your forehead to your jawline, it is often recommended that you try out rounded sunglasses. This pair of Ray-Bans is incredibly popular, but if you want to go for a cheaper option, try these from Urban Outfitters!!
Round Face Shape? Try Rectangular Sunnies.
Similar to people with a square face shape, you want to do the opposite to give your face the illusion of having more angles. That’s why a pair of sunglasses like these from Urban Outfitters would be cute. You could even go for a more dramatic oversized pair of sunglasses and try this cute pair from Crap Eyewear. Either way, you definitely can’t go wrong.
Heart Face Shape? Try Wayfarer Sunnies.
Oversized sunglasses might be the move for you if you have a heart-shaped face. Since people with heart-shaped faces have a narrower chin, bottom-heavy frames would look best. Also, a wider frame would complement your face shape well. Try this pair from Quay Australia or these from Westware on for size!!
Triangular Face Shape? Try Top-Heavy Sunnies.
What do we mean by top heavy? Well, if your face is triangular, it means your face is the widest at the bottom and the slimmest at the top. Therefore, you want to ~balance it out~ with the opposite. For example, browline sunglasses like these would work well with balancing out your face shape. Aviators are also great for your face shape—try these from Quay Australia.
Oval Face Shape? Try Oversized, Angular Sunnies.
Oval-shaped faces are considered to be the most universal face shape, so many different frames work well. However, oversized sunglasses that are more rectangular or square-shaped look great. These sunglasses from Celine would be a great item to splurge on if you were feeling spontaneous, or you could go with this cute pair from Sunglass Wearhouse too!
Diamond Face Shape? Try Oval Sunnies.
Last but not least, the diamond face shape. This face shape is already very proportional, with the widest point of the face being in the middle near the cheekbones. You can choose many type of sunglasses with a diamond face shape, but a slightly oversized oval pair is always cute. This pair from Anthropologie would be a great look for the summer. To switch it up, this pair from Gentle Monster would be a great way to contrast your features as well.
We hope this helped you find your perfect pair of sunglasses for the summer!! Show us which ones are your favorite @theedgemag!!
