The Rumors Are True! Lizzo is the Internets Self Love Goddess

The American singer-songwriter Lizzo has made an impact on not only the music industry but in the lives of millions of people worldwide through her social media platforms. Lizzo is very active on Tik Tok posting day-in-the-life videos, cooking tutorials, dance videos, and most notable duets with her fans. Lizzo’s music has amazing messages about self-love and female empowerment; whether it’s her Grammy award-winning bad bitch anthem “Truth Hurts”, or her body-positive/self-love track “Rumors” she writes songs that make us here at The Edge want to forget about our problems, get up and dance, and love ourselves a little more.

Lizzo’s music isn’t the only way she goes about promoting acceptance and love, her Tik Tok videos are to thank for that. With the beginning of Covid-19, lockdown and the current state of our world, people have had a lot more time to spend on their phones. The abundance of technology brings many people to compare themselves to others online and starts to take a toll on their mental health. However, in the middle of all this, Lizzo has been the shining light of happiness and positivity on the internet, and is not afraid to speak her mind on political and social issues going on in the world. She is constantly handing out quotes of positivity and love to her followers. She started a social media talent search to find plus-size and female models that are not typically highlighted for her upcoming Amazon reality show. She dueted countless videos of beautiful women modeling and dancing to her songs. Not long after that, she released her new song “Rumors' ' featuring Carti B which featured the line, “They say I should watch the shit I post, oh, goddamn. Say I'm turnin' big girls into hoes, oh, goddamn”. Needless to say this line went absolutely VIRAL on Tik Tok with women of all body types posting videos of them dancing or dressing up sexy and Lizzo was here for it.

Lizzo is a truly accepting and positive person on social media, which is something hard to find these days. She takes the time out of her day to post videos to make others happy, she comments on people’s posts to hype them up, she is altogether such a positive influence on young girls and women today as she strives to make sure others love themselves in their own skin. She takes her positivity and proactive role off the internet too by involving herself in many women’s rights campaigns and is a loyal activist. She is someone young girls can look up to as a role model on and off the internet. We here at The Edge have all been positively affected by Lizzo in one way or another and LOVE to see her helping others gain the confidence and empowerment they truly deserve.
