Trend Forecast for Fall 2021 According to Vogue

Fashion is adjusting to mirror our times, and this season is all about complementing the smaller things in life, adjusting to individuality as we embark on our journey back to normalcy. Vogue states that “after this season, our bets are on a period of rebellious personal style and a rebirth of subcultures.” I feel like you can already see the rebellious personal style make its way back through apps like TikTok and Instagram.

1. Collages on Collages

Designer:  Kwaidan Edition

The picture above shows a dress with patterns collaged together, which is already making its way into the mainstream department stores. For instance, when I was back to school shopping, I bought a collaged sunset slip dress (from Urban Outfitters) that resembles the dress above. I’m in love with the colors and patterns used in this dress from Kwaidan. The patterns are so different but flow so naturally together because of the use of rust orange.

2. Sultry Vibes

Designer: Fendi

Designer: Lanvin

These pieces are so elegant yet sexy at the same time. To me, both these looks have inspiration drawn from the 1920s. Fendi created a modern masterpiece, and I am completely obsessed! I want this two-piece set in my closet immediately… which might be wishful thinking. Lanvin on the other hand took a more classic approach with the neckline. I love the subtle details of this dress, it makes it so effortlessly glamorous.

3. One is Better than Two…

Designer:  Saint Laurent

That’s right one-pieces are in. Personally, I don’t know if I would ever wear a one-piece- but if I do- I would style it just like the picture above. Adding a statement belt to an all-black one-piece is stunning. If you can pull this off I will bow down to you!

4. The Bag Pipes are Coming

Designer:  Celine

Don’t be surprised if I show up to class in this exact outfit. Actually tho, I am IN LOVE. Pleated skirts with a matching top are everything I needed this Fall. This look from Celine is a chef’s kiss! It’s almost comparable to Chers iconic yellow plaid suit from the movie Clueless. Wow. Just everything about both of those outfits!

5. Après-ski Apparel

Designer:  Chanel

Apres-ski, or after ski, is what Vogue thinks Chanel’s Fall 2021 line would do well with. With knit sweaters back on-trend it’s no wonder designers like Chanel and Givenchy are inspired by ski resort aesthetics such as fair isle knit. I love the idea of a knit sweater styled with a midi skirt for fall and will definitely inspire some of my outfits in the future.

6. Say Hi to Low Rise

Designer:  Petar Petrov

The days of living in sweatpants are over; comfortable wide pant legs are going to be the new thing. Having low-rise jeans that are baggy will make the initial jump to low-rise jeans be less threatening. These jeans from Petar Petrov look insanely comfortable but, honestly, I  don’t know how comfortable low-rise jeans would be if you don’t spend upwards of $1000. Maybe I’ll thrift some baggy wide-leg jeans and try them out for myself.
