The Return of Y2K Trends

The ‘90s and early 2000s were iconic times for the fashion industry. Low-rise jeans, bell bottoms, tracksuits and bedazzled tops were all on the rise. Fashion influencers like Paris Hilton, Brittany Spears and Nicole Ritchie all embodied the trends at the time, and it’s no surprise that this style is making a return in 2022. Let’s show our favorite renditions of the Y2K style that are popular today.

This micro-pleated skort from Garage is perfect for any occasion. Micro skirts are paying tribute to stars like Brittany Spears, who loved to wear this clothing item. It reminds us of her “Baby One More Time” music video, which aired in 1999. Mini and micro skirts can be easily paired with a baby tee, a cropped long-sleeve or an open-faced shirt. Designers like Miu Miu have made their own pleated micro skirts that aired at their show this year. There are so many style variations of this trend that you can make your own!

Key-hole silhouette tops and dresses are also making a return in 2022. The hit show “Euphoria” featured this style of clothing on Alexa Demie, who plays the character Maddy. These dresses are so flattering and really encapsulate some of the styles that the ‘90s and 2000s brought. The tops can be paired with long skirts, cargo pants or low-rise jeans.

We had to add the quintessential outfit that many of your favorite celebrities wore. Colorful tracksuits are the perfect way to hone in your inner Paris Hilton. Whether you are on the go, lounging around the house or grabbing a bite to eat, this staple piece will surely get you some looks. Websites like Amazon, Dolls Kill, and Asos all carry this retro trend. The flare of the tracksuit combined with the velvet is adorable.

The Y2K style helps us honor all the fashion icons before us. There are so many variations to this style of clothing that allow us all to make it our own. We are loving this style return and can’t wait to see how everyone customizes it!
