Your Guide to Galentine's Day

Dating back to 2010, Galentine’s Day was invented by none other than Pawnee’s Leslie Knope, a fictional character from the hit TV series Parks and Recreation. The holiday celebrates women and their best girlfriends with a day of friendship and of course, good food. Knope celebrates with waffles, saying “every February 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast style.” What better way to kick off the holiday of love than with a brunch with all of your besties?

There is no singular way to celebrate Galentine’s Day. For those who enjoy cooking and baking, a homemade brunch is a fun way to go. Waffles, crêpes, breakfast charcuterie, and mimosas would all surely be crowd-pleasers. But if dressing up and dining out is more your speed, consider Press, Print Works Bistro, or Angelina's European Café. All three restaurants are just a quick drive away from campus (and totally delicious!).

Aside from the meals that will make your heart and tummy full, Galentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to show your gratitude towards the most important friends in your life. A handwritten letter, a cute gift bag full of their favorite things, or even just an act of kindness can make the 13th a Galentine’s day to remember.

Spread the love this Galentine’s day and remember how many people in your life love and support you for simply being you.
