What to Wear to Highlight Your Tan
As we took the well deserved spring break, many of the Elon student body went on a sunny, tropical vacation. We all know that the winters in North Carolina can leave some of us looking a little pale. But with spring approaching, it's time to bust out the jean shorts and tank tops and show off the beautiful tan acquired over spring break! Even though a tan makes everything look better, here are our top 7 items to pair with your tan.
The basic, yet iconic, light wash jean shorts
Although they may seem simple, a good pair of light wash jean shorts can add a comfy and casual look to an outfit. Especially with a great tan working, they show off the fabulousness of the legs!
Citrusy Colors
If you want your tan to be especially noticeable, think about wearing red, orange, or yellow colors. The lighter the shade, the darker the tan will be.

White
Bright colors bring out your color, and since white is the brightest color, it is the best option to wear to show off your fresh tan.
Anything Blue
All shades of blue — whether it be baby blue, royal blue, or navy blue — will accentuate a tan. Some shades may be better than others, but all will produce the same effect. A way to know which blue will highlight a tan the best is to wear shades of blue that are seen in the ocean. It’s only fitting seeing as most tans steam from the beach!

Nail Polish
It always seems to be the case that tans look better with a fresh coat of nail polish. A good color nail polish, either extremely bright or a more neutral color, can add a pop of color to your bronzy skin.
Gold Jewelry
Even though some people prefer silver jewelry, a statement piece of gold jewelry, whether it is a large necklace, a chunky bracelet, or gold hoops, contrasts with the color of a tan well.
