Reusable Masks Are in the Trash

Historically, masks were typically used to masquerade villains or protect the identities of superheroes. It is unbelievable how the 21st Century has radicalized traditional concepts of function and fashion in the span of just a few years.

Almost three years since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are still wearing masks. We may have thought we were almost done with the pandemic last year, but sadly, that is not the case just yet.

Society has filtered through various face coverings during these last few years. Although varying in effectiveness, disposable masks, KN95 masks, N95 masks, reusable masks, and bandanas were popular choices.

Last year the Kitsch, Athleta, and Lululemon masks were all the rage. These were comfortable to wear to school, work, or any venture outside your home. It seemed like everyone had masks that coordinated with their outfit. Some businesses even sold masks with a clothing item in order to perfectly match the mask and item.

However, in 2022 there has been a sudden change to disposable masks, N95 and KN95 masks. We are still affected by COVID-19, and the N95 and KN95 are the most protective.

The technology of these masks protects the people around you and blocks 95% of particles from entering your mask. These masks are great for longer commitments or activities. Disposable masks are more sanitary since they can easily be thrown away after use. Reusable masks can be reused; however, the masks should be washed after each use.

The problem with reusable masks for college students is the need for constant cleaning. Although they can be cute, proper hygiene for them is just not practical since washers and dryers seem to always be full. Disposable masks are a great alternative.

Besides their health benefits, these masks fit any outfit or occasion. The most popular colors are white and black since they will match any look. We have all most likely purchased face coverings through Amazon, and these three popular types of masks are no exception.

A box of 50 black KN95 masks costs $19.99 on Amazon. N95 masks cost a bit more and cost $31.71 on Amazon, but are still worth the price.

A positive and fashionable aspect of reusable masks is that they have cute designs or colors. Many do not know that disposable masks can also be en vogue as well! Here are a few of our favorite bold disposable masks.
