You add the item to the cart and proceed to checkout. But then a slight problem occurs. The total price is $49.99 plus shipping and handling! You only have $34.57 in your bank account. You start to think to yourself, well this sucks I really liked the matching set. But wait, you see an option called afterpay. You can pay over a period of time and get the set on immediate order! This is a game-changer. 

So now that you have this image in your head, let's talk afterpay! Arguably the best invention in the history of online shopping. Essentially how it works is you shop now and pay later, according to the slogan. So when you see what you want to buy but have limited funds, now you can. 

The inventors of afterpay, Nick Molnar and Anthony Eisen, started the business in 2014. However, afterpay made its big push in the United States in 2018 when Anthropology and Urban Outfitters started using it. Afterpay is primarily used online, but it can also be used in stores. It works the same way where you split each purchase into 4 payments every 2 weeks. They also now have an app. Kinda like apple pay, you add your card to the app and pay by tapping your phone and showing a face ID.  

Afterpay might really be the best thing to happen to online shoppers — especially for college kids. It takes shopping to a whole new level.
