Kendra Scott's Story

Kendra Scott, a divorced mother, created a billion-dollar jewelry company with $500 in her bank account. The unique Color Bar allows customers to customize their jewelry with different gems and colors. Shopping at Kendra Scott is always a great experience based on its three core values: Family, Fashion, and Philanthropy.

She tells Forbes Magazine that she always loved making jewelry for her friends and started selling her jewelry door to door, and it has now become one of the most famous jewelry brands. However, the biggest struggle in starting her business was lacking funding. Scott finalized her divorce shortly before starting the company and still needed to financially support her children.

“I’ve always had a love of natural gemstones, and noticed a white space in the jewelry market for quality styles and stones at an affordable price. So, I decided to create them myself.”

Scott has also always loved philanthropy. One of her main goals in starting a company was the possibility of giving back to her community. The Kendra Cares program brings her unique Color Bar to pediatric hospitals to give kids confidence, hope and an appreciation that they are important and loved. In addition, Kendra Scott shares 20% of its annual profits with programs that help women and children gain more opportunities and knowledge.

“My stepfather once told me the greatest thing I could do with my life was to use my talents to improve the lives of others around me. I carry those words with me every day.”

The company gained fame with its Elisa Pendant and the ability to customize it. The affordable prices and variety of products are why Scott’s designs became so successful, along with her philanthropy. Since the pandemic, society has embraced companies that support people or groups in need, and Kendra Scott lives out that practice.

If you are looking for the perfect gift for your mom this Mother’s Day, consider buying from a mother focused on helping others. Kendra Scott provides her favorite choices for Mother’s Day and even offers designs with mom written on various pieces.

Supporting a company like this makes great sense. Not only will you get gorgeous jewelry, but you will be making a positive impact on society.

“We make a choice to see the good in every day – in the mirror, in each other, and in our communities. When we see the good that’s possible, together, we can create it.”
