Repercussions of Adidas vs. Kanye Being In The Spotlight
As we have all seen, Kanye loves to air out his dirty laundry on Instagram and he's at it again. Just a few months ago, we saw Kanye taking his feud with Pete Davidson to Instagram after Pete and Kim Kardashian got together. Now West has logged back in to post slander towards Adidas for supposedly copying his designs from YEEZY.
The most recent news surrounding Kanye is his claims (on Instagram, of course) that brands like Adidas and Gap have been stealing his ideas. Kanye has been calling out Adidas since the summer, but now the attacks have gotten more direct. Kanye claims that Adidas has been stealing his designs despite the fact that Adidas manufactures the brand YEEZY. Kanye claims that The Adilette 22 slide sandals imitate the YEEZY slides.
When Kanye returned to Instagram to lash out, he began directly calling out people associated with Adidas. West called out Senior Vice President Daniel Cherry The Third.
Though not calling him out by name, in the middle of the rant West posts; “VENTURE CAPITALIST WHO'S ONLY ADVENTURE IS CAPITALISM. CANT CREATE SO THEY TRY TO OUT COUNT THE CREATIVES.” Cherry hasn't responded to Kanye’s bullying, but that won't spare him the wrath of Kanye’s supporters.
Kanye’s slander against such a large brand could have significant effects on Adidas, resulting from Kanye's large fanbase. As we saw from the Taylor Swift (2009) incident, fans and celebrities will side with him even if West isn't in the right.
Relating to this lashing out, we have already seen some celebrities siding with Kanye over Adidas. Rapper T.I. posted a picture on Instagram of a pair of Adidas sneakers with an X struck through with the caption; “@addidas this WHACK AF!!! I STAND WIT Ye'!!!! Right is Right .... dis ain't it.”
On the other end of the feud, Kanye could lose supporters who would rather side with Adidas. Kanye has a short temper and never fails to hide it. Even for people who aren't necessarily Adidas fans, this could bring Adidas positive feedback from those who don't like Kanye because of similar reactions from him. Will his fans who aren't as die-hard still be interested after these attacks?
