The Evolution of Glossier

Nobody can deny the impact Glossier has had on the makeup industry since Emily Weiss launched the company in 2014. Glossier has redefined minimalist makeup, aesthetic packaging, and given young women access to more affordable makeup. Glossier has had limited stores in New York City, and pop up shops throughout major cities so far. Back in July, Glossier announced that they are planning to partner with Sephora! They shared this news back on their Instagram account, quoting, “This is a huge moment and milestone for our community and one that includes all of you!” Glossier will be available at Sephora nationwide, in-store and online starting in 2023.

Glossier products were made for the girls who don’t want to feel like they are wearing anything on their face. Effortlessly giving the “cool girl” look that was way ahead of its time.

In honor of Glossier’s 8 years of business, being worth 1.8 billion dollars, and partnering with Sephora, we at The Edge thought it would be nice to stroll down memory lane to take a look at Glossier's product evolution.

OG’s know of the first original products Glossier launched in 2014. The Smoothing Face Mist, Priming Moisturizer, Balm Dot Calm lip gloss, and Perfect Skin Tint Foundation.

The skin tint was probably the most controversial product of the bunch due to its lack of shades, and coverage, not everyone was a huge fan. It had to stand up to the minimalist brand that Glossier was marketing.

Young girls were OBSESSED with the Balm dot.com, a seemingly ordinary lip balm, however it was the packaging and unique flavors that really sold customers.

Another product, the Boy Brow, is still to this day an iconic brow gel product and one of their bestsellers! Although there are a lot of other options, it will soon become much more convenient to purchase products now that they will be available in stores!

Some of their more recent products have been taking Tik Tok by storm, one being the Glossier You perfume. This gained a lot of attention because of its uniqueness in the market. It retails at $64, and has over 4,000 positive reviews. “This fragrance is so perfect. Feminine and not so overwhelming. A perfect everyday scent.” - Ri, from San Diego, CA.

However, a lot of reviews also state that they prefer the solid version of the perfume which retails for $30, and remains eco-friendly because you can always keep the carrier but just rebuy the solid pack form.

You cannot deny the creativity and draw that Glossier brings to the makeup industry. Young women and girls all over the country continue to love this brand, and we hope you do too. We here at The Edge encourage you all to try out their products because you never know what gems you might find! Happy shopping :)
