Healing 101

Going through a breakup, whether it be a friendship, situationship or even a relationship with a partner can be extremely difficult. They can take a huge mental toll on some people. Your self-esteem may be in shambles and you might ponder on the person a bit too much wondering what went wrong. Newsflash, probably nothing that was your fault.

Let’s admit it, some people can be pretty confusing to put it nicely. They don’t know what they want and are not honest with themselves or others. This can cause a lot of pain to someone.

The healing process after seeing someone like this can be tough and it can be a long one too.  Just remember to take time for yourself. Use it to reflect. Remember that you didn't deserve what happened to you and that you will get through this. Don’t try to justify the person's behavior and please don’t feel like you were at fault or that you could have done more. The person just turned out to not value you or care for your feelings. This says more about the type of person they were than it does about you.

Think, do you really want someone like this in your life and around you? They don’t deserve your energy or your time. It is not your job to care for them nor is it to look after them. Think of yourself first and remember to set boundaries. Make sure that your boundaries are always respected.

Learn to be alone for a bit. Take time for yourself alone to sit with your thoughts.

Set boundaries. Once you do so, you’ll be able to back away and take your energy from people who don’t deserve it. Remember that not everyone deserves to have you around. If you’re truly important to someone, their actions will show it fr. Don’t take the bare minimum from absolutely anyone. Learn to love yourself first. When you do this, you prevent people from taking your energy and wasting your time. Pick yourself up and remind yourself of how powerful and strong of a person you are.

Whenever you feel sad or upset, do something you love or pick up a hobby. For example, some hobbies include:

  • Crocheting

  • Jewelry making

  • Reading

  • Painting

  • Pottery

  • Baking

  • Coloring

  • Making Pinterest boards

  • Going on a solo date

Take time for yourself. Take it day by day. It’s okay if you need cheat days to cry your heart out. It is completely fine. Remember your self-worth and remember that not everyone is deserving of you or your energy. There are better people out there and there are people who care for you and love you.
