NASHVILLE
If you don’t already know, fall break is rapidly approaching, and it’s not surprising that Nashville, Tennessee is a favorite Elon-senior spot to travel to. Renowned for its country music, line dancing and lively social scene, Nashville is the perfect destination to celebrate finally being legal to drink and, for some, the last fall break of college. Vibrant, vibey and full of fun, this high-energy city attracts college students from around the country to celebrate their little breaks from academic life. We have composed a list of our Nashville favorites that you must hit in order to get the full experience. Let’s talk about the hottest spot to celebrate being done with midterms.
Nashville is known for its line dancing which dates back to the 1970s. Line dancing is perfect for dancers and non dancers alike of all ages and backgrounds. There are tons of historic bars to hit during your trip that even offer line dancing lessons. Your first must-hit bar has to be Wild Horse Saloon. This bar has a very large dance floor and has amazing bands play if you are a huge fan of live music like us. The saloon features three floors, each specializing in something different, and there is a menu featuring southern smokehouse cuisine so you can fuel yourself after busting it down on the d-floor.
Another must-hit destination if you are craving some classic rock is Kid Rock's Honky Tonk and Steakhouse. This spot has five floors, four stages and six bars. Not only does this bar serve mouth watering steaks, but it also has a rooftop where you can view Nashville at night and get the most gorgeous view of the city. Our only piece of advice is to go as early as possible because it does tend to get crowded due to popularity, but this spot is a guaranteed good time.
Now let's talk about day time fuel. We all hit the midday slump from exploring the city and all the bars it has to offer. The most important thing to do is make sure you are keeping your stomach full and happy for all of these events. If you need a quick bite, you have to give Hattie B's a try. They offer 100 percent live-fire BBQ every day — giving you the real taste of Nashville. This family-owned company offers five different heat levels for all types of eaters, from their Southern (no spice) to their Shut The Cluck Up (the hottest). They also offer sides for those who don’t eat meat such as mac and cheese, fried pickles or black-eyed pea salad.
If you are a country music fanatic and are looking to learn something new this fall break, then it is no question you should go to the Country Music Hall of Fame. This museum has over 2.5 million artifacts with two huge floors featuring engaging exhibits. You can spend anywhere from an hour to a day exploring the various exhibits, and the ticket prices are reasonable with the average price being around $30 per adult .
If you are lucky enough to make the trek to Nashville this fall break, then make sure you hit the spots above. And if you find any more “must-see” spots, please send them our way @theedgemag! 🤠
